My wheel debate, help
So, thinking of selling my a-spec wheels in favor of some lightweight rims (mainly to help out at the track in summer but also I want them to look nice so going with 18" instead of 17" even though it's a bit heavier). Definitely going to pick up the Tein SA and front/rear camber kits over the winter here.
Right now the main 2 wheels I'm looking at are the Enkei RPF1 and the RP03, and size is going to be 18".
Problem is I am way more of a performance/engine guy than a wheel/aesthetics guy. I'm looking for some feedback in terms of whether I should stick with the silver finish or if I should get them in black.
If my car was WDP it would be a no brainer - black all the way. But being that my car is CBP, I struggle a bit more. Pure black may be a bit too much - I still think that a gunmetal finish looks best on CBP.
I've also considered saying to hell with the lightweight and just getting XXR 530's in silver, per the photo of another member's CBP with them, here: http://i1258.photobucket.com/albums/...L/IMG_0756.jpg
I've learned a lot about spacers and offsets and blah blah by reading many threads in this section so I can figure all that out, but I really can't decide on what makes the most sense in terms of what wheel color to lay against the CBP.
all feedback and/or flames are welcome.

yeah I'm still leaning heavily towards the Enkei wheels but it's a question of silver vs. black (I don't think they make the RP03 in black anymore, haven't seen it on stores anywhere)
The VS-XX definitely would be more of a all-show wheel, and I would mainly only opt for it if I couldn't get a good look out of the Enkei's against my CBP color

i agree 19" is the sweet spot for this car but I have been pretty happy with the size of the a-spec wheels at 18. I think it becomes more prominent when you drop the car a lot, but with the right 18" wheel I've seen quite a few decent looking cars on here.
I think you're right though I would steer clear of something like the RPF1.
Right now I'm leaning towards the RP03's in terms of wheel design, but I"m just not sold on color being a standard silver.
I still love gunmetal/black against CBP.
I'm trying to talk myself out of your wheels because I *kindof* like them but that silver rim bugs the hell out of me. I have cash in hand for them but I would really have to *love* the wheels in order to justify dropping 3200. I assume that doesn't include the rubber?

Yea just the wheels (including lugs, center caps)shipped...The polished lip looks great and breaks up the black...They are flush with fenders..no spacers needed... and only 20 lbs....stock 17's are 25lbs...My TL accelerated better, and braked better when they were on....

i'm sold on the anti-black, lol.
I think I am pretty set on the gunmetal Forgestar F14's.
I was considering the XXR 530's as those are still not very heavy and I appreciate their concave look when viewing them from an angle, but honestly looking at them straight on they remind me too much of the stock type-s rim, which I can't stand (and cannot wait to sell my type-s rims lol).

If your getting wheels for street/track to minimize weight the RPF1 is probably the best bang for the buck, if you dont mind that theyre a very popular wheel...which makes the price lower as they sell alot of them. I would stay as small as possible to fit over the brakes.

I forget what kind of 'racing' you are going to be doing, whether it be drag or road racing, but the RPF1s are boss for both. They are strong, lightweight, and look great IMO. Probably my favorite set of wheels, so I may be biased In 18x9-9.5 they weigh ~17-18lbs according to their website. That's light for such a large/wide wheel. My stock wheels are 17x6.5 and weigh like 24-25lbs lol.
Below is a link to a picture of a TL on AZine with the RPF1s in the SBC coating. 17x9.5 +15 on a CBP (I think?) TL. There are several more if you search Google "Acura TL RPF1" but this is your color so I figured this would be best.

Btw I got your PM....car is too far lol. Great deal though.

F14's seem to be relatively popular on this forum but I think XXR's, Work, and Volk are way more common.
I should also note that in Milwaukee I've only ever seen like, 1 or 2 other TL's EVER with aftermarket rims, lol. I could get damn near anything and would be pretty unique around here lol.

To be honest the RPF1 was the first wheel I was looking at, but I just wasn't sure how well it would look against CBP.
I google the same thing you do - "acura tl <insert rim here>" and I found that one you linked (anthracite metallic, not CBP but thanks regardless ), among others.
I agree the price point is great and for the weight they can't be beat. But I do care about aesthetics to some degree - i'm not going to go nuts over being hellaflush, but I want the wheels to look good on the car if I drop it and it sits just above the rubber.
i thought the SBC on the RPF1 was more of a chrome-type finish, which is why I strayed from it. It looks like it might be ok on my CBP but I'm not 100% sold.
Sadly CBP is a rare color - most people with aftermarket wheels that have photos on here are either NBP, WDP, or SSM. I spent all weekend scouring the wheel forum and photo gallery. Really difficult to get an idea of what something would look like on my CBP aside from XXR 530's and Work VS-XX.

the problem is there aren't many non-billet race wheel options. TSW, Enkei, and Forgestar are among the top and honestly there are just very few wheel designs I like in the first place.

I'm gonna try and research rpf in the 18x8 or 18x8.5 to see if we have any offset info anywhere on the forum. Seems just that a lot of people run these as 17" wheels for some reason.

Just some food for thought on the RPF1s, they start 'concavity' at the 9" wheel. Anything less the spokes will poke. A 9" wheel will give you better traction as well on the turns. Also, I'm not into the hella flush either, but I totally agree, a nice stance where the rubber is close to the fender is desired (IMO).
I think the TL slammed (< keyword) on RPF1s look sick. Of course that's my biased opinion

9" is gonna put me into the territory of having to get a camber kit, I think. I have a feeling that won't still be in spec.
was trying to avoid that and with my F14 setup i was looking at, I (probably) wouldn't be out of spec, given other member's experience that I've talked to.
god dammit. I should just stick to engines because I actually know what I'm doing there, lol.

as I said it's my DD as well so the 18" is a good balance for me in terms of looks and while not as light as 17" race wheels, it's a good compromise at around 19 pounds per wheel for most of the brands I'm looking at. Compared to my current summer wheels which are the aspecs that are about 30 pounds each, lol.

Congrats on the purchase! F14s are great looking wheels but becoming pretty common here on AZ.
To shed some weight I probably would have gotten some Advans, but they cost a pretty penny.

I think it's all about the right amount of black on the CBP. Good choice on the the F14's.
I don't think I know "anyone" that has those.
LOL OK
