My Tire Came Off...

so i'm driving on the parkway last night when i hear a thumping noise (sounded like it was my muffler at first)... i pull off at the next exit and see my passenger side rear tire was pretty much completely off the rim and my car was sitting on the bare rim! it wasn't pretty. the wheel was smoking and real hot.

put the donut on and made it home... i guess now is a good time to replace the stock tires finally!

strange thing is that i didn't hit anything (pothole, debris, etc) so i am still trying to figure out how this happened... could it have just been a blowout? weird to me. doesn't look like the rim is damaged but when i get the new rubbers i'll make the service guys double check. i may be in the market for a stock rim!

21k on the turanza's... from what others have said its seems about average.

I would call your dealer.... Or you could take it to a Merchants (or similar store) and have them evaluate what happened.. they may can look at the tire and determine the cause of the failure....

Had the same problem on my Civic a while ago. You would probably have to change the rim as well

i just pulled the trigger on the proxes 4... got a set for 150/tire installed... prob could have done bit better but i went with the cheapest who can do it the fastest.

what type of mileage are proxes owners getting out of these? i'm hoping to get at least 20k... is that realistic?

I would think you should be able to get 20k out of them.

What size did you get? 235/45/17 or the 245/45/17? How is the ride and handling?

i went with the 235's... handles better than stock, but i feel like anything i put on there would be a step up! not as impressed as i thought i would be but maybe i just expected more? happy with them for sure... they do whine on the highway... but good tire, good price.
