Most highly rated tire?

Still very new to this forum so please don't flame too bad Anyway I am just trying to do some research as far as the tire of choice of most users on this forum.

I recently just purchased a CPO DGP 5AT w/26000 miles. I noticed it does not have the original tires on the vehicle. It has some Coopers as seen in the pic below:

Not knowing what type of life I will get out these tires, I am just trying to prepare myself for the worst. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.....

alot of members use the Pirelli P Zero Nero's, and the Falken Ziex 512E. If you go to tirerack.com, you can find the tires that best fit your needs.

Outstanding Wet Performance

I'm on my third set of Avon Tech M500s .
I'm on the road most of the day in my
car for work and I was looking for a tire
that worked exeptionally well in the wet.
I drive through rain somewhere, everyday.
I was only able to get these tires to
hydroplane three times.

I got my car in June 05 and I'm pushing
38K total miles. I drag raced extensively
on the first two sets and am expect more
longevity from my current set.
I have yet to explore the wet, ten-tenths tire
adhesion but I can can corner in the wet
at seven-tenths DRY ADHESION
levels without sweating it..

When it's raining, speed enforcement
disappears. If it were in the mainland,
I'd say they'd wait it out at the doughnut
shop but we don't have any over here.
Now that I think about it, I'll bet it's in
their contract to not have to work in
the rain. Fine by me.

They got a little noisy too. The tires. Dry grip
was outstanding with progressive, predictable
breakaway characteristics. Good dollar to
performance value. I'll keep buying them as
long as they keep making them.

Since you're in Ca you can probably get away without all season tires. The Goodyear Eagle F1 D3s get great reviews. Look at this post. There are many good tires available. Are the Coopers the stock size? They appear to be a higher profile. One good thing is your rim looks to be in great shape. Do they have a rim protecter or do you just drive very carefully? I wish my rimms still looked like that.

Yes they are they stock size tire. The rim is in great shape but two of the other rims have some scuffs. The ride quality from the tires is not bad, I guess I will just have to wait and see what kind of tread life I get out of these tires.

Those 2 plus the Toyo Proxes I hear about a lot here. I've also seen the ratings for the Avon techs and have been interested in them, thanks for some real feedback papio. The water handling was very interesting. Hard not to take into account a Hawaiian's experience with wet weather performance thats for sure

If I were to pick a tire right now, it would be a flip between the Pirelli's and the Avon techs. Does anybody have any feedback on the wet/winter performance of the Pirelli's?

I have been through a set of the Falken Ziex 512's.. Got about 25000 out of them.. They are good tires but get VERY noisy as they wear... I am switching to the Pirelli PZero Nero's next week after reading all the good reviews on this forum and tirerack...

i have the falkens, and i have 23400 miles on it. They are really loud as they wear, but i think i can stech them to 30000 miles becuase they have 3/32nds on an inch left.
