Modding advice for a new tl owner?

Hey guys, I recently bought an 08 TL and I'm looking to put some 19" wheels on there. I know many of you are experts so I hope you guys can get me started on how to do what I want to do.

Besides the wheels, I'd like to drop it a few inches as well. The wheel measurements are 19x8.5 with 35 offset. First of all, will I need to roll fenders or install camber kits to make it not rub? If I decide to drop it, how many inches can I lower with these wheels without rolling or pulling fenders?

Also is it easier to do a drop first and then the wheels or vice versa or does it not matter? Due to budget limitations, I have to do this in stages. Thanks in advance for your advices.

What size tire are you planning on running.

If it were me, i would run a 195 on a 8.5 rim

i'm pretty sure he doesnt kno what size tires to go with either?

The BEST way to lower would be with coilovers since theyre adjustable and u can set it to wherever you like..(but they do get a little pricey.. but you get what you pay for) Or, you can get lowering springs (eibach, h&r, aspec etc) but the drop will be what it is.. and if you dont like it then you'll be stuck with it =\

19x8.5 doesnt seem too aggressive.. many ppl run wider/bigger wheels so im sure you WONT have to do any fender work with these (depends how low u go.. the lower u go - the higher the chances u'll have to roll fenders) camber kit for rear.. it also depends how low u go.. (2+ inches u might need it to correct toe angle)

and tire size.. depends if you want to stretch the sidewalls or have it fit properly.. so possibly either 215/35/19?(for stretch) or 235 or 240/35/19.. ( but also remember the thinner tires you get, the higher the chance of cracking a rim)

I know this is a lot to read..i'm def not an expert, but hopefully this helps!

Smack, welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I've always been fond of RonJon wheels. They're made specifically for Honda/Acura. They are one of our site sponsors.

Thanks for the info, guys

Thanks guys. I don't know what brand or measurement of tires to go with. My preference is to not modify any fenders and this being my daily driver, I'm not looking to mod it for racing.

What measurement of tires should I go with if I want to put on these 19"s and drop it 2"?

dropping the car an inch or so with those specs of wheels and you won't have to do modifications to the fenders or have to get a camber kit. If you wanna go lower, 2" maybe, then I think you might have to roll the front fenders as tires might rub when turning or getting in and out of driveways.
tire to go with is 235/35/19. Brand is up to you. What you can afford basically

Can I lower it 2" in the back and 1" in the front or will this throw something off?

Good info from everybody so far. Thanks.

I'd like to have it the same all around but myron mentioned dropping it 2" may require fender modding in the front, so I was just wondering if 1" or 1 1/2" in the front and 2" in the back would have any negative effects on the car.
