Michelin warranty??

Hi everyone,

Ive got a 05 TL 6MT with just under 17K miles on it that just failed mass. state inspection due to tires (theres no tread left on them). They are Michelin Pilots that have been properly inflated and rotated every 4K. Research on this site shows that allot of you are changing your tires around 20K miles (give or take) and I am wondering if anyone is having any luck with warranty claims, or if I am on my own on this one. I realize that they are somewhat of a performance tire and there is no stated tread warranty, but 17K just does not seem like much to me at all...
Any opinions?

Thanks,
Chad

Michelin will not cover tire wear, specially on performance rated tires.

17K miles is not bad, I have seen people trash tires in less then 10K miles.

The TL is a fun car to push in curves and do hard acceleration with has you have found out with your 6MT, the downside is that the tires will take the grunt of it.

Best of luck to you in getting to tires covered under Warranty

could be ur alignment or rear shock bump stop issues. mine yoko summer has about 20K on them with 1/2 left. i drove them pretty hard from time to time. do a search around here with "alignment", "rear tire wear" etc.

I had the junk Turanzas removed from my new 2005 TL 6MT, and replaced with Michelin Pilot A/S before taking delivery. I did this based upon past experience on my CL-S, which I traded, and the poor reviews on the Turanzas on Tirerack.com, plus some very negative feedback from the dealer on problems other customers were having.
I had 60K+ miles on them when I traded the CL, and had at least 10K left in them.
My new TL has 35K, and the Michelins look to go at least 60K. I rotate every 10K, and keep 35psi front, 33-32 rear. I would classify my driving style as "spirited". I don't understand why yours would wear so quickly.
