Matched 2004 A-Spec wheel paint?

Has anyone successfully matched the 2004 A-Spec wheel's paint color? I scuffed my rims the other day (AGAIN) and since it's very minor this time I'm thinking of fixing it myself witih some patience, sandpaper, and bondo. However, I have no idea how I'd match the paint, so if you have any suggestions please help

I would give a call to the dealer and ask. I know that the SSM touch up paint matches the OEM rims well. No clue about the gunmetal 04 A-Specs.

The only problem with using Acura touch up paint is that they don't sell it in spray cans (to my knowledge). Has anyone found a matching aftermarket paint?

I am in the same boat, I just got some used a spec wheels, need to touch them up before i put them on.

A web site I found has the wheels listed as Anthrecite not gunmetal.........so would the OEM anthrecite color match? I can probably get the OEM paint in a can from duplicolor.

Dupli-color Scratch Fix 2 in 1 - NG GM 435 Light gray metallic. Please note that as the label shows, this is a General Motors Paint code, but again is a great match for the gun metal aspec rims.

I have used it for rock chips on my rear wheels and it looks great. It is a 2-in-1 bottle. Brush & pen in one.

Do you know what cars came in that color?

I will need it for more than chips.......I was going to use a spray can.

I need to use some putty, than sand it smooth, than primer it than recoat those parts of the wheels.

Nice job, guys! When the weather is consistently nice I will give this a shot. I just washed my car yesterday (after about 5 months of not washing it) and boy, it looks nice!

Too bad the original poster didn't specify that he had gunmetal rims. Only you were asking about the gunmetal aspec wheels.

Everyone,
My apologies for the misunderstanding. I should have clarified that these were for the gunmetal colored rims. I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knew the 2004 A-Spec rims only came in one color! My apologies!

I just cross-referenced it on the DupliColor website with the code from mine to the 5 oz. spray can. The code for 5 oz. is DSGM435.

Update:

I just got the GM435 2 in 1 scratch fit kit ($7 bucks locally I know rip off)

They didn't have the spray can, but I thought I might as well try it and see if it matches before I buy the can online.............

I was surprised at how well it matches the wheels.........its as good as touch up paint you would expect from Acura........blends pretty well with the OEM A spec gunmetal look, and is perfect for the small scratches..........I will take some before and after shots.......

I have 2 wheels to fix up, I think I am going to just "touch" them up and see if they look ok, I dont expect them to be perfect looking, as long as the scratches don't hit your eyes when they are installed I am happy.

I think the GM435 is a very reasonable match. However, I think if you are going to spray it on the results may be a bit different than the touch up. The paint on the Gunmetal looks to me to have a clear coat. The touch up does a good job matching the scratches but in broad applications the one part touch up may look very different than the somewhat flatter gunmetal grey with clear coat.

good point

But if I were to refinish them, after sanding out the rough parts, I would prime the entire wheel, paint the entire wheel, and clear the entire wheels.........this way you can not see the diff in the shades...........

I just touched up the wheels, they were real bad before, they are not as bad now, nothing close to perfect, but enough or me to be ok with it. Regardless I will get some curbs on them anyways, being as they are 8.5" wide and only have a 235 wide tire...............

Next tires I get will deff be 255 wide, and at that point I might fork out the money to get the wheels refinished professionally.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread from the dead. But have anyone able to purchase the GM 435 paint lately? I tried searching google for it but no dice and the links above are all broken.

i actually started a thread on this last week or so, no dice either. however in this thread https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/painted-wheels-please-come-706716/
Powerflow painted his wheels and it seems to me that it's close to the a specs, i could be wrong as i haven't done a true side by side compare but it looks really good. and done with high quality. I was going to head to the dealer tomorrow and see if they know anything but it seems that someone from this thread already tried. I will see what i come up with and follow up tomorrow. hope this helps you out

^Nope. These guys are talking about touch up paint for Gunmetal A-Specs, not Sparkle Silver A-Specs.
