Thumbs up Lowest Setting on Tein SA with no Rubbing and no Fender Rolling?

Hey guys,

Could anyone with the Tein SA give me an idea of how low you can go on them without rubbing (assuming no rolling of fenders)? I'm looking for the measurement in terms of the amount of space on the coilover. I'm currently at about 1 and 1/8 inch on the front and back

Thanks!

There's no cookie cutter response. It depends on your specific setup. Your tires, your wheels, your camber, the streets you drive on, and even then each car will respond differently. You just need to lower then drive it around. If no rubbing then lower more and drive around. Keep repeating til you find your sweet spot. It's tedious but that's the only way you'll know. Then get an alignment to set toe to 0

I just have 17" stock type-s waffles with michelin pilot super sports (235?). I haven't gotten the alignment yet and will try to get toe as close to 0 as possible.

I think I'm most worried about rubbing on fenders

Edit: Hi sockr! I haven't been able to do the navi hack yet haha...i get stuck in the cmd prompt ~_~

We all have to start somewhere.

I am on Tein SA, my wheels are 18x9 +30 and I think I got to around 2" before it started rubbing. Once that started I got my fenders rolled by a good friend and went even lower

Rolling is scary at first but get someone who knows what they're doing (NO baseball bats or broom sticks! ) and you'll be set

stock wheels as low as you want, they are pretty sunken in

Maybe I shouldn't worry about it then haha. Only problem is that some of the roads around my area SUCK. Also, if I ever have to go up to San Francisco, it'll be a nightmare. (I hate that place..)

Yeah, I just saw your thread (here), you're on 18's but it looks like the rears got lowered more than the fronts did since you maxed them out. I don't think I'll be able to max it out, but do you remember how much "space" on the coilover (the black portion with the rivets) you left before it started to rub? Unfortunately I didn't measure the distance from the fender to the ground when it was stock or anything like that, so I don't have a good way of measuring it other than how much space I'm leaving on the actual coilovers.

But if I add spacers I'll be doomed

I have no idea. Maybe a tad less than an 1" on the front and .5" on the rear.

I'm sitting pretty even at the moment.

I have 255s on stock rims and you can't make them rub. No matter how much weight is in the car, how hard you corner, how bad the roads are, it can't rub. It hits the bumpstops before it can rub. Mine is about 1.5" lower than stock.

Adjusted to ~1" space left on the coils on the front and ~0.9" on the back and it looks excellent. Got an alignment today (though maybe I should've held off for a bit).

After the alignment, I ended up with negligible camber on the front, but they were only able to get the rears down to around ~2.6 negative camber on the back. I THINK I don't need a camber kit but any suggestions would be welcome.

Also a dumb question for anyone who reads this - but if I added 10mm wheel spacers would I be in danger of rubbing or is 10mm somewhat negligible? Also would I need to get an alignment again?

Thanks

10mm spacer should be fine. You're on stockies, right?

Most people even go with 15 front and 20 rear.

And with -2.6 camber you shouldn't have any problems.
