lowering with rims problem

So I'm at midas right now and I just asked if I could lower my car. Problem is that with two subs in the trunk and 3 ppl in the back seat, the tires rub with fast turns or dips in the highway. Somebody had told me that if I put spacers in there and then lower it, it will make it stiffer and when the car hits the dip it won't fall into it thus resulting in the rub. Midas guy says that's not possible and he never heard of the spacer comcept. He said with rims it will always rub and even make it worse by lowering. Can anybody comment??? I know lots of ppl on the board have 19 inch rims and have their cars lowered and it doesn't seem to be a problem for them. Thanks.

It's all in the offset.

tpatel,

I've been trying to get a straight answer from you regarding your offset. What is it!!!! That will determine if you can lower your car or not. The spacer concept is complete BS. Your wheels will just stick out further.

you may just be able to crawl under the car and look at the back of the rim.

If your rear tires already rub, using spacers will make them rub more, and lowering will make them rub even more. The only cure is to roll/cut the fenders, or buy a new set of higher offset rims.
