locking lug nut key

locking lug nut key

when i bought my type s wheels the person i got them from gave me the original lugs and the locking lug nut key that came with his 08 acura tl type s.. i lost the key to the locking lug nut and now i need to get another key.. i know the dealership has them but my question is are there all diff types of locking lug nut keys for diff type s'?

I believe that there is only one pattern for Honda/Acura, or at least both my TL and civic have the same key pattern. I suggest that you try asking one of this site's sponsors who carry OEM parts, plus they are typically affordable than the local dealerships. Should there be various patterns, then I recommend taking your car to the dealership and have the parts guys match it up with the correct key. Either way, it's not a huge amount of $.

I had to replace my key when another member (who shall remain unnamed--ahem---Oscar!) made off with mine after a day of modding.
If you have the original packaging, there should be a number written on the insert. You can call up the key manufacturer, give them the number, pay $15 or so and they will ship a replacement. Was pretty easy.

if they are the ones by mcguard than they use 75 to 80 different keys if i remember correctly

Wow. What are the chances? There are literally dozens of different patterns on those keys.

OP. Best thing you can do is go to your local Acura dealer and see if they have a master set of wheel lock keys. If not you'll have to go to a tire shop to have them taken off.
