Load capacities

Just some food for thought. Many of us are concerned about overall tire height, eg. going from the stock Michelins in 215/50-17 to another brand in a 225/45-17. We admit the OEMs are rolling turds, but our cars' total load carrying capacities were based on those turds.
The Michelins have a 93 rating on the sidewall which corrolates to a maximum load of 1433 lbs.
The Conti Extremes in a 225/45/17 are rated only 90, which carries only 1323 lbs max. Times 4 tires, thats 440 lbs. less your car can carry safely.
Now if you don't have girl friends rated "tons of fun" or if you don't even have one at all, you have no problem.
Lastly, the Falken Ziex 512 in a 225/45-17 has a re-inforced sidewall for a 94 rating of 1477 lbs.

Point well made, and taken. One of the "specs" I've been concerned with whilst looking for tires.
FYI - My new OE Honda/Acura 17x7" +55mm offset "Silver Star" wheels come with the following information for appropriate tires (I'd assume this would be applicable for the TL crowd as well.)
215/50/R17 93V
215/50/R17 91W
Seems as though the higher "W" speed rating gives you more flexability in choosing tires, as the load rating goes down to 91.
Just thought I'd share.
Merry Xmas!!!
