Lightweight construction of Conti DWS's
How concerned should I be about the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires and their "lightweight" construction ? The 235/45/17 tire weighs only 22.4 pounds, about 3 pounds less than it's competitors.
Also, Acurazine members have complained of thin sidewalls and sluggish response.
I am interested in buying a set, but they are on back order at a few places I tried.

Son in law is happy with them on his Merecdes and he is picky ...
But others maybe not ... 1/2 they time they don't compare them to like tires etc..

I bought a set of the Continental 19s based on reviews at Tire Rack. I have not had a chance to toss them on my car yet. There are several threads about that particular tire already in this section.

Im riding about 5k miles on these tires. My size is 235/35/19's and I decided to keep my rims on over the winter and get these all season tires to accomplish this. My impressions are that these tires are great for All Season. Just don't expect crazy handling performance. My only complaint is that due to thin sidewall, taking aggressive turns and handling is sacrificed. But the upside is that, ride comfort is enhanced tremendously!
Overall I'd still advise to buy these tires. I got all 4 of my tires for $800 mounted and free wheel alignment. Not to mention camber it install on the rear.

Anyone here have the 245/45/17 size on their TL ? Seems like the 235/45/17 size is sold out and is on back order until May or June.
The 245/45/17 size is also sold out but should be back in stock towards the end of this month. Will the larger size hurt the initial steering response more ?

Back at it with the TL SH

When i had my 06 TSX i upgraded to the RonJon's Inspyre in chrome. They come in 17" so I decided to mate them with the DWS. What i huge mistake. They suck!! I hit a bump at mid speed and the sidewall blew a hole. I had to replace the tire. The side walls are way too soft. Even when i over inflated to 36psi all around they still felt slushy. Save time and trouble, don't get the DWS. That are garbage.
Also, i think they are ugly. I shined them almost every 3-4 days and still looked ugly.
Did i mention that they suck!?!
