Life of Summer Tires

I was considering the Acura 18" wheels and was curious to know how long of tire life everyone has experienced with their summer tires. The dealer said I would be lucky to get 20K miles out of them. What do you guys think?

Also, I've noticed many of you complaining about the stock Yoko's. How many miles should a good summer tire get with regular balancing / rotating? 20K miles is my annual driving and I would prefer not to have a fat tire bill every year.

with summer tires you tend to drive a bit harder. 20K+ sounds about right. you might be able to stretch to 25K+ if you drive very conservatively. they are for more fun, not for economy. these low profile tires, even decent all seasons, will hit a wall around 30K+. if you drive 20K+/yr, you are gonna have to get new tires sooner either way.

I only got 15k-ish out of my Toyo T1-S, but that included a lot of extreme driving. I could've gotten 25k out of them if I were more careful, yada yada yada.... if I were going to drive conservatively, I would've never gotten the dedicated summer tires in the first place. You get the toys, you play with them.

I've seen people get anywhere as low as 10K to as high as 25K (put that is pushing it). The rubber compound is much software which causes them to wear at a much faster rate than a typical touring all season tire.

got megabytes on the brains...

I think he meant to say that the compound is much "softer."

I just took off my Falkens and got about 15k from them. I could probably squeeze another 5k, but it's not worth it IMO.
