after numerous emails, these guys are "confirming" that these Illumina shocks work on the 3G TL. these Tokico #'s are listed for Accord (up to 2003) on many shock sites. does anyone have these or KYB AGX on a 3G TL???

are they positively sure these will fit our car??? bcuz my "TEIN S-Tech springs" box says the same thing: for 03 accord.

the guy from iraterides just emailed me, said he would call Tokico directly and get the answer.

shox.com had said the standard KYB shock listed for 1999-2003 Accord was also listed for 2004 Accord, so they said it would fit 2004 TL (04 accord and 3g tl share same suspension). i actually wanted KYB AGX because they are less expensive than Tokico.

however, iraterides has some excellent prices on the Illumina's.

as for your springs, i thought in 2004 the suspension had changed, but i dont know 1999-2003 accords or tl's well enough to say for sure. it seems that your springs (and my eibach 4044.140's) have the correct geometrics (coil size and height), but the spring rate was not specifically designed for our 3g TL, hence the difference in overall drop if in accord or TL.

I wonder if we could compare part numbers between the OEM shock assembly for the 3G TL and the 2003 Accords, if they're the same, then hey, what the heck

i called a few dealers

and here's what i got (partially solves the mystery)

front shock
2003 accord v6 - part 51065-SDB-A04
2004 accord v6 - part 51065-SDB-A04
2004 acura TL - part 51065-SEP-A03

hmmm, same part for accord going into 2004, but a different application designation on TL ("SEP").

however, most folks are saying that 2004 accord shocks will fit on a 2004 TL. so i'm hypothesizing here a few things:

1) any shock that fits a 2004 accord should fit 2004 TL
2) 2004 accord oem shock may have different damping than a 2004 TL oem shock (hard to say for sure)
3) the Tokico Illumina's i listed should work on 3g TL.

I have contacted Tokico today.

They said that they do not make shocks for 04 TL and have no plans to

make any in near future.
