I got new tires...Dunlop sp5000 225/55/16

After all the research, I have installed this today morning.
I want to thank you again for all you guys help.

By the way it was great deal...
Sears matched the price of Discount Tire, which is $102 each.
and then they gave me additional 10% difference which is $4 each tire. so $98 for the price each tire.
And they had a 10% discount promotion this morning that I didnn't know that. so...
Including all the installation fee, tax, balancing, even with Hazard protection.. came out $486...compare to their initial estimation $750 around.

My first feel about this tire is,
Smooth.....very smooth.
We have winter storm watch tonight and tomorrow in DC area.
I will test traction tomorrow in the sleek, rain, snow...
I will let you know...

Thumbs up

You made the right move going with 225/55-16 for the Plus-0 upgrade and I knew there would be some good tires to choose from in that size. Well done!

You may now be elevated to Jedi Master...

Thanks TLMugen,
I haven't really noticed big differences, but ride is smoother.
I may want to check the tire pressure again. steering feels too sensitive now and gets more reaction.
By the way, I did a test yesterday on the icy, rainy, and snowy road. It was quite difference between stock tires.

Just out of curiosity, why the Dunlops instead of Bridgestone re950's?

When I went to sears, Dunlop was only in stock.
funny reason isn't it? but I knew Dunlop was one of suggestions from TL Family, so I made easy decision.

You'll be happy with the SP Sport 5000s. I had them on my 2002 TL (after recommendation from my buddies on this site ) and they worked out VERY well in dry, wet, and snow. I needed a "all-season ultra-high performance tire" (as Tire Rack calls them), and they were good for that.

Bob,

Did they balance up nice and smooth? Freeway driving without vibration? Reason I ask, I'm having a highway speed vibration issue with my new 215/50/17 ContiExtreme Contacts. I'm going to give them a road force varience test, and try to work the bugs out. If they don't smooth out, I'm considering the SP5000's.

Any help greatly appreciated...

Merry Xmas all!

Jim

Yes to both. I used the tires on TL-S stock rims I bought for my TL-P.
