Exclamation How much to fix curb rub?

I saw a few threads similar to this but not on the dot.

Here's the deal: I found some Aspecs on ebay but i only have 5 hrs to decide for sure when the auction ends and they have a little curb rub on them. do you know how much it would be to fix the curb rub per wheel? and i'm guessing the whole wheel would NOT need to be refinished, right?

I'm just trying to tie in all the costs I would possibly have to pay...

If you can, fast responses would be good asap

there are specialty shops that straighten rim edge and refinsh the surface and balance the rim
runs $50-100-$150 per wheel depending on how bad the damage is.
Look up places in your area on the internet- rim straightening-
and see a few websites
They will have pics of what is and is not fixable- then you can call and get better price info direct from the source
This is assuming the wheel isnt heavily bent from a curb slap where the center got tweaked in the process... so its not repairable

IMO- Buy parts you can touch in this case- call the local junkyard- now called auto recycling centers- they can hook you up with good rims and exchange one if any problems.
Just tell them what you want- if they dont have it there, all the yards are on a hotline to each other and they do a search for you.

i really need to get this done too. i think the fact that i live on dirt/gravel roads is really killing my rims. i just noticed on my passenger front rim that there is a lot of chipping and peeling right where the tire meets the rim. i think a wider tire might help, but i dont know.

i have heard they run around $75 or so per rim to fix.

damn seeing that the price of these wheels will go up close to when the auction ends and the price to touch them up... I might contemplate getting new ones.

Now, here's the deal, i found 2 sets of new aspecs: a sparkling silver set and a gray/gunmetal set. here are pics:

gray/gunmetal

sparkling silver

Does it look like there is really a difference? Only reason I ask is cus the sparkling silver are $100 cheaper than the gunmetal lol

Hard to tell with the two different color backgrounds.

go with gunmetal, the sparkle silvers make it look to common or stock. The gunmetal gives it more of a custom feel imo.

they are all 8.5 wide....they just dont print it....because of the offset for the brembos.....when u go to a tire shop to get them balanced the dudes supposed to measure the rim width and adjust it accordingly on the machine....even the stock rims are 8.5 ive measured them and sat there scratching my head saying dude wtf ? it says 17x8 but its really 17x8.5...anyway.... someone on here is from texas and he said he got his rims fixed for 75 a piece. if i find him again or his post ill copy the link here.

hmm, It seemed as though the stock was an 8" cuz they put 235s on it, but then again 235s can fit on a 8.5 too.....

Anyways go to mobilwheelrepair.com they do a decent job, and can fix curb damage at your location, no need to mail them or anything.

ok so go to ur shop where they have one of those "C" clamp rim measuring tools, where you get your tires put on and put it up to the rim measure it and then tell me how wide they are afterwards.... I had the silver ones as well on my 05 ssm that i installed the tires on myself at my friends shop and i know the correct procedure to make its done right......and sold them to get the RJ legends....even the rj legends say 18x8 on them and they are 8.5, thats why a guy who does his job right when he puts new tires on and balances them..... measures the rims width correctly otherwise u will have a shimmy. just do it, dont even bother arguing until u take the tool and measure it....you dont even have to take the rim off. you can do it with the front tires turned out. if u dont know how to use the tool have the guy show u.
