How bad is it to have lumps in tires?

My two front Kumho tires have a few small lumps in them. I guess its from hitting potholes. Someone told me the tires can explode from this. Is this true? Tire size is 225/40/18.

Replace 'em soon!

I assume these lumps are on the sidewall. If so, they are where the sidewall is separating. Yes, you could experience a sudden tire blow out. Not good at 80 mph. They are from impacts to the tire. If you have road hazard insurance, that should cover it.

i got a bulge on the stock tl-s michelins when i ran over road debris...it can happen to any tire. unless of course, it was a tire defect...but these are hard to prove. the sidewall is the most important part of the tire so you will need to replace it ASAP.

I've run over potholes and road hazards with cheaper tires and never had such a bad lump. This is the second one and Im not changing it. These tires suck and I'll change it when I get new ones with rims. I will drive more carefully till then but they suck from a traction perspective as well so Im not buying a sixth tire. 4 crappy tires when my car was new 2 more to replace those weak inferior tires

This is the second one. I cant keep spending loot on tires that suck and Im not refering to the sidewall but the actual traction.

At least I'm not the only one with this problem. My tires only have a few small lumps though. Should I wait and see if they get bigger before I buy new tires? I'm worried about buying new ones because I think it will happen again very soon. The streets around here are horrible. Potholes all over.
