...got a set of 18" tires and before mounting them, wanted to know how much approx. life is left. i know there's not a whole lot of rubber but i'm thinking 30%? tires are michelin pilot HXM4 all seasons.

I just want ONE season out of these before i replace during the next winter season (i have a dedicated set of winter rims/tires)

You seem to be about right, 30%. My front tires are pretty much bald right now, plus the insides are done due to camber wear or w.e. I have been driving on them for 3 months. They had like 20% 2 months ago and they wore down quickly. I would suggest getting new tires though. It makes a big difference in handling/performance and safety.

For the past 2 months, whenever I go out, I say a little prayer lmao. My inspection is this week and I will fail because of the tires so I am getting my new tires installed this weekend/early next week.

Your tires should be fine, mine were much worse and they lasted 3 months pretty much. You might be able to get another 6 months out of those. But, I hated worrying about my tires, I can't drive my car like the way I used to, and it handles like ass and moves all over the place.

They should last quite a while as even when they hit the wear bars you have 2/32 tread remaining or @ 18%, but naturally, water dispersion and handling will certainly diminish when the tread is worn into that area.
