Heading to NJ soon, Need new lug nuts with locks

Hey all,

I'm heading to NJ+NY at the end of the month, and I'm looking to upgrade my lug nuts to some with locks before I head up there.

Honestly I'm sorry to say but like 90% of "my rims were stolen" threads are from members located in those areas. And I'll primarily be in Plainfield, Edison, and Piscataway so I want some added protection. I'll also be lowered by then on springs and have a few other goodies installed in my car, so I'm going to get a Viper remote start+alarm (Viper 5901) installed in my car.

I'm currently running with no locks, stock lugnuts with 18x8 Ebony Aspec rims.

I was hoping to get some lug nuts that stick out a little bit more because the stock lug nuts are a little too sunken in anyway. I would like some MAYBE in black/dark chrome or even regular chrome is okay.

If anyone has some recommendations that would be great. Links would also be nice, and I'm hoping for under like $100 bucks for a set where all the lugnuts are locks. I know that if some asshole really wants the rims he can get any lock off but making it harder for them can't hurt. Oh and I have Ichiba V2 spacers on all 4 corners so idk if that changes it at all.

Thanks everyone

how long are you going to be in jersey for? do you have another car to take instead?

try and find some lugs that fit the holes well. you want some that somebody (a thief) would have a hard time hammering something onto. you know what i mean?

i don't know what kind that would be, but that'd be your best bet.

I'll be there for 2 days/2 nights most likely.

I am worried about my car but I don't necessarily want that to stop me from being able to drive it I can probably borrow or get another car to take but I prefer my own i think

HA! Im from jersey and I work in the plainfield area... I dont like the area but for added comfort the lug nuts are a great idea. I havent seen many cars on cinderblocks missing tires ever in my 27 years of living here but perhaps I dont see everything

How do these look to you guys? Will they fit the lugs and stick out a little more than the stock ones? I would like them to fill the holes of the wheel better....if that makes sense? I don't know the measurements of stock lug nuts...

LOL. Thread made me LOL so hard. Guys don't worry. I live in the nearby area. No problems. Ever. You see the odd one case or two but thats it. I have left my car parked in south yonkers (google please) and no problems. That was only once though.

Easy with the Jersey bashing.. I'm in Bergen county and right across from NYC all the years I've lived in this area nothing has happened. I wouldn't worry about it man.

Just saying; if you check on the forum I would say over 50% of the stolen parts threads are from areas in NJ and NY.

And I also needed wheel locks since I don't have anything at all right now so this would be a good time actually. And I've been wanting a remote start/alarm for a while and just got a good deal on installation so I figured this is a great time to go ahead and get it

so yeah. No suggestions?

I know my one friend had his wheels stolen off of his g37s in philly. And he now has 3 different types of wheel locks on his wheels (overkill I think) but he does have this one wheel lock where the outside of it spins around so you cannot bang a socket over it and the key only fits inside. Not sure where he got it or what brand. But ill ask. You are better off getting something like that because every other wheel lock, no matter the design on the outside can be taken off with just hitting a socket with a hammer onto it. Good luck though!

Do any lock thingamajiggies work on stock TL-S wheels? I was always looking at NYC as #1 destination when I hated cars (until last month), now I'm desperate to at least be driving and enjoying this TL-S I got for ~5 years, so I'm thinking NYC might not be so good a destination (not even theft and so on, but uselessness of a car and few opportunities to use it) and I might have to think Seattle or so as new target

No need to buy locks just for a short stay in jersey.

Well, It wasn't going to be for just a short stay. I had been planning on getting a set for my car for a while and figured this would be a good time.
