Is this a hazard?
I've had snow tires on my car since about late October. The all-season tires were worn out and I got rid of them and had planned on buying new summer tires this spring. But now it's been decided that I'll only have my car for one more year...which would make getting yet another set of tires for it seem pointless. The snow tires on my car now are Dunlop WinterSport 3D (excellent snow tire, BTW).
So my question is, is it a hazard to drive on winter tires during the summer? I know by no means are they designed to be driven on hot pavement and as a result, they're wear pretty quick, but I really don't care to drop $600 on a set of summer tires for a car that I'll only have until next spring.
The tread life remaining on them is pretty good. I'd say about 50%+ remaining. Here's a pic with the old penny trick.
And this is what the minimum allotment is for tire tread.

Good to hear. And honestly the amount the wear won't bother me as I'll be selling the car not long after next winter anyway. They're really not too noisy except when slow down to a stop. But they do ride pretty rough.
