H&R Sport Springs 50104 vs. 50106 (base v. Type S)

Planning on checking w/ H&R Monday, but does anyone know if there is an actual spring rate difference between the type-s and base versions or if it is just a part # difference.

Have searched, can't seem to find a definitive answer.

Reason I ask, I found a good deal on the 50104s but I have a Type-S and don't want to get them if they are going to be wrong for the car.

In on this. I'm curious also to see what the difference is. Please fill me in if you get any info on it. Thank you ahead of time.

I talked to H&R and apparently the 50104 and 50106 are different part numbers internally which indicates completely different products.

They didn't go into detail (which I didn't expect), but I'm guessing the extra weight on the type-S, in their eyes, is enough to warrant a different version to be made.

That sucks. They should go into detail and help you out a little here and there. You are a customer and are asking pertinent questions. Because if they are a little stiffer, you may want to do that just because that maybe what you want. But I have a Base model and may put the Type S springs on mine. We will see how it goes.

I have had the base TL HR Sport springs on both my automatic type-s and my 6MT type-s. The automatic weighs a couple hundred pounds more than the 6MT. No problems in either scenario. I run them with Koni Yellow struts. You will be fine going with the base TL HR Sport springs if you found a better deal.

I didn't expect much detail. I didn't figure they'd give out spring rates or anything over the phone.

The guy said they would fit, but he wouldn't do it on his car.

Well honestly I think the Type S has a stiffer spring rate than the base model one. I think that's the main difference. So hopefully that helps you. Are you planning to pick them up?

I punted. I'll probably just go with the a-spec setup. If I could get the springs and Koni sports in the same price range I was going to do that, but since this fell through I'll just go with my other plan.

Good luck with your plans. Hopefully you'll find something you will be happy with. Maybe coil overs? Haha.

Please give any additional input. I'm assuming the spring rates are stiffer for the Type S (50106). No info from H&R or anything. Please anyone chime in who have each spring.

I got the neuspeed sport springs on my type s 6mt and they are stiffer than stock, I would think that the h and r would be similar. The front sis look high though until I took out my spring isolators though I'm.thinking they were designed for the auto

So anybody find out the difference? I'm ready to pick up a set of H&R sport springs for my 05 TL 6mt but researching other threads showed my front end might sit higher with 50104 springs. Why do they have to make things so confusing.

Does anyone have a definitive answer to this question?

Google did not turn up anything.

The 50106 kit is specific to the TL Type S and spring rates will be even higher than the 50104. We are unable to share those exact spring rate numbers for proprietary reasons
That's the answer H&R gave me.
