H&R Race Springs

First off, I'm on my phone and it won't let me search so if there's already a thread on this can you just post the link?

I've got a Type S and was looking into getting some springs for it. I found some in the black market but the guys said that since they were from a base TL they wouldn't work with my Type S? I always thought that they were compatible. Does anyone have any solid info as to whether or not I can use his springs on my car?

My Type S has H&R Sports Springs, not the Race Springs. I think they will work, but the Race Springs will slam your car.

They'll fit, but Type-S damping is quite a bit firmer than base PLUS the race spings are stiffer.

You'll probably have a harsh ride and you run a much higer risk of blowing out your shocks.

Is that worth the 'look'?

Thanks guys, didn't know what the difference between the H&R Sport and Race springs were.

I saw some H&R Sport springs in the BM too. How do you like your Steven?

H&R sport are a no brainer. I love mine and know SB loves his too.

Plus 3 1/2 years and 52,000+ miles on stock shocks so far.

So the ride and everything is good with them?

And do you mind posting a picture or two of yours with the sport springs? I looked a your garage but the page goes blank as soon as I click the picture.

^^

Other people have said that, but I went in some random garage and the pics worked fine.

Yea, the ride is similar to stock, but not as much 'slop'.

Thanks for the links.

The drop is noticeable in person right? It might be the pictures but I can't really tell how much gap there is. ha

The other one is stock height? If so that's lower than I thought. Looks nice.

Now back to being a whore.

I love them, Ross. They were definitely the right option for my Type S.

Hey Steven,

I see that you have 20mm spacers with the H&R Sports Springs. I think they lower the car 1.4 inches in the front and 1.3 inches in the rear. Do you have any issues in the rear with rubbing due to your spacers?

I am planning on adding 15mm in the rear and maintain stock rims and tires.

I appreciate your insight.

Thank you

^^^ Beyond, I've got 15's on the front and 20's on the back. I'm on OEM wheels and tires. Even with the H&R Sports Springs, I have absolutely no issues with rubbing!

Steve, I have a base 07 TL, if I go with these H&R springs my drop would be the same as the type s right? What is the gap in front & rear? Thanks.

Yes, same amount of drop advertised - 1.4" F / 1.3" R.

A bit less than 1 finger gap in front and a bit more than 1 finger gap in the rear. Those are my fingers on my car, not Steven's fingers or Steven's car.

I don't go around fingering other guys cars.

So, what kind of shocks are you all running with H&R? I think I just read you have stock shocks in that link you posted with pictures.

Slop is right. I have the aspec shocks and springs oem kit and I got a lot of vertical movement, lots of lean to the left and right and floaty feel when going down the highway. I gotta do something about it, its driving me crazy. I know multiple issues cause all that I mentioned.
