Can someone explain to me what the difference between F&F Coilovers and BC Coilovers are?
Seems to me that they are the same. Unless you want to do the math and order the right type of springs to match the stock springs you are currently riding on.

can
the first generation of type-1's, the shocks blew. their shocks werent great! and if I recall, they were just rebranded to say F&F type1's. my friends F&F type 1 shock blew while he was driving and fender came down on to wheel. damaging wheel.
there is a 2nd generation of type-1s out....but those who had the first will NEVER ever go back to that company. they've also let the community (us) know about the first generations....and convinced us not to purchase from said company....
BC coil overs, there hasnt been any MAJOR reports of things breaking. so, thats why most people go with something trusted and not something that breaks!

It's been awhile since I checked, but there is a cost to upgrade to stiffer springs with the BC coils, right?
We're looking at a 14/10 setup.
no extra cost for custom spring rates either, I did 12/10

Doesn't make any sense. The Type Ones have no dampening adjustment, and the BC's do.
I had F&F coilovers since they first started. And as a growing company, some batches of coilovers were good and some were not. However, now the coilovers have been pretty much on point.
Any type of issues with their products are fully backed by the customer service team.
So yea, do your homework when order ANY suspension products for your vehicle.
^no. I did not compare the two....
I understand that a growing company will have some batches of faulty items.
however, when multiple community members chime in and say they recieved faulty items, that company will be hard pressed to recover from the bad press fall out, as community members experience have more weight than a company that had sent out faulty items....
so, yes...even if the 2nd generation f&F type1 and 2s are great, the bad press will prevent people from buying.
also sounds like you work for said company....

Not comparing BC to F&F, or vice versa. Its all based on personal preference.
That's my .2 cents
i have the ff type 1's on my 3g TL right now. i probably have a 1/8" wheel gap on the rears and no gap in the fronts. i had tein super streets before, and definitely miss them. even on dampening settings right in the middle, the teins were still stiffer than my ff type 1's.
i don't think the ff type 1's rebound very well, and they can especially feel bouncy and unstable on crappy LA side streets. going over big dips even at slow speeds, i feel like the ff type 1's overly compress and i have bottomed out a few times. ON THE OTHER HAND, they are really comfortable on the highway as long as the road is evenly paved. good for a not so stiff feel with little performance.
overall, if you're looking for improved handling and tight rebounding, get the tein super streets (now advance i believe). if you want the look and a softer ride with very little handling improvement, then the type 1's.
