FLAT TIRE, need advice.
FLAT TIRE, need advice.
So here's the story. I have a 04 TL everything stock.
About a month after i bought my car i got a nail stuck in my tire and it went through the side so had to replace it. I got a potenza cuz thats all they had in stock.
Yesterday night... got a nail stuck through the side again, but it was through one of the turanza's. meaning it has 20k miles on it.
Questions:
1) Is it ok to replace ONE of my tires with a diff brand like Kumho ECSTA KH11's?
2) What effects does having 3 tires with 20k wear and one brand new tire have on my car?
3) If i have a Kumho, i'll have 2 turanza EL42's, 1 potenza (no idea which model), and one kumho...
Please advise... riding on that spare is nerve racking

Not a good idea to buy one.
If you need one, I would get two and put them in the front where you need the most traction.
If you can't afford to buy two, then get a used one till you get the money!
Just my 2 cents.

I agree. I would have the two matching up front if you can't afford new tires.
If you can afford it, trash the turanzas and get 4 new tires with road hazard insurance. By the sound of it it seems as though you drive through some rough stuff. I believe that once you start mixing tread patterns the stability/handling may be affected.

Handling will be affected.
Note...somebody stated to put new tires on the front.....NOT A GOOD IDEA. New tires should ALWAYS be installed on the rear.....lots of research on this one. Check TireRack.com if you need clarification on this. As for the situation here...heck....I'd just get four new tires and hit RESET!
see if you can find a used tire the same brand until you can get either 2 new ones or 4 new ones. get the insurance for the tires, i know from bigO there are no questions asked and they replace them for free. you can drive a railroad spike through all of them when they are worn and they are replaced. (double check the bigo policy though, i know thats what the one where i went to college went by, it might be different elsewhere.)
