Flat tire, buy one new, or change all out now?
Hi guys,
First off, let me explain that I'm not really an entousiast like most of you are, I'm basically just a dad who wanted a nice car to drive. I have a 04 TL with Pirelli P9s (I think). Anyway, it looks to me like I should be able to get another year out of my tires. I got a flat on the road yesterday. Is it OK to replace one tire so I can get the rest of the life out of the other ones, or do I have to get four new ones because of the wear diffference?

about how many miles do you have on your current tires? Also do you know how much tread is left on the tires? If you are strapped a bit for money, I would do this:
Put two old tires in the front
Put one new tire (if it's mis-matched, its ok as its the rear) on the rear and the other good one.
Downside is that you can't rotate the tires.
If you have a bit of money, but not all for four new tires, get two good new tires and put them on the front, and put the old ones on the rear.

i would recomend getting all new.....my bridgestones exploded on the highway and i bought 1 new tire.....other tires didnt really have much thread left.....and after the new tire my ride was not stable at all.....
i would recommend going to onlinetires or edgeracing and get new tires.....
bridgestones and michellins run expensive at firestone or dobbs (something like 190-300 a tire)......online you can get falkens (i have em and would recommend em), nitto, toyo, yoko, nexen.....etc etc etc for like less that 125 a tire.....
i would go online and get a full set.....and keep the 3 tires i have from now......so if you get another flat or blow out a tire.....out can put one michellins(what you have right now) on it.....

If you can find a matching tire, it's perfectly OK to replace just one tire. Unless your other tires are almost gone.
If you can't find a matching tire, it's best to replace 2 tires so you can have matching tires each axle.
If your other tires still have plenty of life left and you want to save money, search craigslist or ebay for one matching used tire.
Good luck. Remember, don't be throwing away good tires.

I agree with csmeance in part... by 2 new tires but not in the front you should put them in the rear... not a big fan of buying 1 tire only...

One on the right for me
I was in the same boat - had a flat on four relatively new tires (but not new enough to make it worth replacing with the same one. Drove it with the new one on back. Decided to see how weird it would feel with it up front - wouldn't recommend it.

There you go. If it was just a nail or a small leak any tire shop can patch that hole/leak for 30 bucks or so. I had a nail in one of my tires a few months ago, and they pulled the nail out and filled the hole up with something and today i am still rolling with them
