Falken FK 452 or Toyo T1R
Ok here's the thing, I have a set of Toyo T1R's and they are wearing pretty fast. The two sets of Toyo's i've had were the proxes4 and T1R's. I preferred the T1R's over the proxes4 but I have been hearing good things about the Falkens so I was just wanted some of your thoughts on either the Toyo's or Falkens. Oh BTW I am either looking for 235/35/19 or 245/35/19 for my RonJon Inspyres so if any of you guys what would be better for me because I am dropped on Tein S-Tech 1.5 inches in the front and 1.25 in the back and I only have a rear camber kit.
Also could the tires be wearing fast because of my drop and the camber kit. And i did get a four wheel alingment.
Thanks for the help! JT

I've seen awful reviews for the toyo tr1, and nothing but good reviews about the 452, the falken's only negative is a mushy sidewall when pushed hard, personally I preffer the mushy sidewall since it opposes the understeer
ps. mushy sidewalls on a dry corner are all conditions go, on a wet corner i wouldn't try it...
I am rolling on 245/40-18 falken 912

I have about 5,000 miles on my Falken FK 452's and they are great. They produce very little if any road noise. I usually run the with around 36 PSI all around.

The guy running the taller than typical (40-series) tires may be experiencing "mushy side walls due to that rather than the mfg. Also, the 912's might have mushy sidewalls but the 452's don't. However, they are a "blocky" design and if your offset is +30, you may rub in the rears with the 245/35's so I'd recommend the 235/35's

I have the Falken 452s on my '04 TL and am not impressed with them. They came on the car when I bought it used in November. Most of the tread left on the tires btw. My complaints are as follows:
1) a lot of road noise
2) when accelerating fast, the tires do NOT grip well at all
3) absolutely horrible in any type of snow (even very thin layers)
As mentioned earlier, these tires were on the car when I bought them. I'm not sure how well they were taken care of before, but I'm not impressed with them.

I've been running T1R's for about 5K miles and they seem pretty good. Tread life has been awesome so far and there's hasn't been much in terms of road noise. Once these are gone I might pick up a set of the FK452's to try out. From what I've seen the T1R and FK452 are pretty much the same with the FK452's being reported as quieter.

Here is my plug for the tires I am running: General Exclaim UHP- Ultra High Performance
They were designed as a summer tire but special tread pattern designs qualified it for M&S mud/snow rating. Some members are running them in light snow no prob.
The AA wet braking rating is real and functional~
Hangs on tight in the wet or dry and quiet enough to keep wife happy, plus low cost enough to use for track days and not worry.
Well rated on tirerack- check them out

1) You're the first to complain about road noise with the 452
2) Never heard this before either, i've taken onramps and highway turns extremely fast with them, and they never felt like they were going to give in
3) Summer tires generally don't do well when its cold out
I'm guessing you live somewhere with a cold climate right now, so I have no idea why you're running the 452's. Of course they're not going to grip well if they can't meet their optimal temperature, and don't even TRY these tires in the snow.

my guess is that his 452's are low on tread and most complaints about road noise are from guys whose tires need to almost be replaced, it's a common complaint with any tire brand.
the 452's and t1r's are very different tires imo. the t1r's are probably more performance based and have the usual / \ shape when mounted on a wheel. i think they are also more expensive. the 452's have a rim protector feature so my guess is that the sidewalls might be softer. i dunno cus i only have 452's and have never run t1r's. the 452's shape is more like | |.

Them being summer tires would explain why they are horrible in any type of snow. They were simply on the car when I bought them and I haven't had the time to change them. Luckily, it hasn't snowed too much. I'm in PA btw.
Moving on to a new set of tires in the next few months.

Summer Tires are great in the winter....right
I personnaly have had the the Falken FK452's on my Bimmer, and they were probably one of the best tires I ever put on,
For the profile of the tire and being a Sportsummer/rain sport tire the road noise is a minimalist in comparison to any other tire in its Class , Cornering is amazing, I love coming home because of the winding roads I used to challenge and theese tires stick , as for accelerating from a stop into a fast turn ???? Do you mean sharp turn? a turn cant have speed...lol anyways regardless in every instance including accelerating from a stop wether straight which is great or in a turning which is not reccomended and quite frankly stupid who floors the gas right before a turn from a stop?... Theese tires are summer tires therefore meant for summer of course they are not going to do good in any type of snow thats why they have snow tires ,and if youd like the median well theres all season which are not optimal in summer nor winter but just get the job done , summer tires have a designated tread desing to accomadate to the category "summer" and summers conditions and the summer tires use a rubber compund thats best suitable in "summer" conditions in accordance with summer temperatures to allow the tires to be sticky and grip , in the snow or extreme cold the tires would obviously harden and hence act like skis , by the way what summer low profile , or any summer would be good in the snow???? Please let me know because I need a set ...I think everyone would like that , Also my vehicles dropped Lowwww, my tires are tucked right under the fender and I have a the turner motorsports Camber Kit , leading to your other question about tire wear im sure toyo t1s a re a great tire the wearing fast is deffinetly relative to the lowering of your vehicle , The camber kit helps correct the camber , and lessen if not eliminate FAST tire wear.. SO the drop is the cause of your tire wear (is your tire wear mostly inner?) and the camber kit is there to help the wear and correct the Camber. Given my car is dropped the tires are great so I cant only imagine on any other car

Check on www.tirerack.com and read some reviews. I am looking for new SUMMER tires myself and it looks like there are some very good & very bad tires out there.
Check out the BFG G-Sport tires, a lot of Acura owners rate these very high. Also the Firehawk wide oval tires seem like really good ones, too.
Best of Luck!! Let me know what you get, I am interested, too!!

I have had my Falken FK 452s on my TL Type S for about 1 month now. A+. No complaints. I think these tires are a STEAL at $109 each.
GREAT traction/grip, QUIET RIDE, handle well in corners, etc.
What's not to like??

Nitto NT 555's are ok. I looked at those, too. BUT DID YOU NOTICE the Nittos only get:
Traction A
Temperature A
Treadwear is 300
The Falken FK 452 tire gets:
Traction AA (best rating)
Temperature A (best rating)
Treadwear is 300
AND THE NITTO NT 555 was MORE $$$$.......huh??
My vote is Falken FK 452 (I am loving mine)
