EL42 Tires-Need Advice

I have the old EL42 tires on my car (PVC Code), at startup in the morning I have a slight vibration problem for about ten miles. Then it goes away. Also in rainy weather the tires are very unpredictable.

Will Accura replace these, with no charge or hassle to the new EL42s?
Also is it worth getting them replaced? Are they any better?

Thanks!

By the time you get through reading all there is to read about this subject in the Tires, Wheels, & Suspension forum, your EL-42s will be worn out and you won't have to worry about it any more.

They should replace them. However, they will try to keep your car at the dealer overnight to test next morning.

For what it's worth, I found out from one HONEST dealer that he was surprised I still had those tires on the car because my VIN fell in the batch that should have been replaced no questions asked. This after my 4th trip in the shop to get my POS first set balanced.

Might want to ask them again. FWIW, the dealer who told me was Fountain Acura in OTown

The dealership should replace them with the newer EL42 tires. People have had different results with the newer "TU2" EL42 tires. My personal experience was that they were in no way different from the originals - I still had flatspotting and poor/unpredictable rain performance. However some folks have been perfectly happy with their replacement tires. I say give them a shot and see for yourself. I ended up getting new tires (Michelins) and all my tire problems are gone. Good luck!

These guys are all giving you good advice. I was so busy trying to make a point that people should look in the right place for the info that I failed to fulfill my first obligation, which is being helpful and informative.

As said, many people do not experience problems with the EL-42's, but if you are, the dealer should definitely replace them with the newer version.

Also, in the Tires forum, there is information about contacting Bridgestone. I think it may be too late for them too take any action, but it is worth a try to see if you can get the LS-Z, which is a much better tire.

If you can't get any satisfaction or help, get the new EL-42's put on and hopefully this will solve your problem.

58XX Vin - Old EL42 tires

I had about 5,000 miles on my car when I wrote and called Acura about the flat spots and terribling driving during rain. 2 months went by then I got a call from my sevice manager. Acura replaced my tires. I must say that the new version of the EL42's are much more smooth and better traction during rain. It worth the time to file a formal complaint with Acura.
