does sway bar make it possible?

I decided to buy 05TL 5AT w/navi over 04'G35 within a few days. I test-drove TL yesterday. Everything was great except handling. The handling of the TL was too soft, undulate, rolling and floaty in corners, even in chainging lanes.

I have read many threads about Comptech sway bar. but I just want to make sure a few things....
1.Can installed swaybar make 5AT TL comparable (or close) to G35 in handling?

2.After sway-bar installed, does it affect TL's warranty?

3.Does it need a regular maintanence for the sway bar?
4.can i just install sway bar only or should it be installed with spring or some other things??

1)Yes
2)no
3)none
4)Install A-spec suspension for an awesome ride in addition to the sway bar and you will be extremely happy. Blows away the G35. About $1k for the suspension, installation and alignment = Money well spent

It won't rid the ride of the floaty-ness but it will reduce lean in the turns.

Question do you need a wheel alignment if you put on just the sway bar?

You do not need a wheel alignment if you just install the rear swaybar. I just installed it 2 weeks ago & didn't need it aligned. On the other hand, If you haven't done a wheel alignment in a long time then go ahead & get 'er done. If you are gonna upgrade your wheels, tires or suspension in the near future, then you should wait after the upgrade to get the wheel alignment done.

miny, comptech parts don't void any warrenties on your car due to the fact that acura dealerships sell them, there is a whole list of them on their site.

Uh, you do realize that this thread is almost two years old?

But it's all good. The A-Spec suspension and the Comptech RSB are the two best and most functional mods you can make on the 3G TL.

Isn't the A-spec suspension just better coilovers? For that price, wouldn't it be better to get the Tien SS?

Depends on what you want out of your suspension. Most of us who choose A-Spec (which are indeed better coilovers) want an Acura-designed solution with warranty, that improves the handling without sacrificing ride quality, and is warrantied. That is why I'm so high on the A-Spec concept, it works exactly that way. If you want performance and don't care quite as much about Acura-designed ride quality, the Teins should be just fine.

Ride quality doesn't really matter to me as long as it sticks to the road and nails turns....Is the A-spec suspension really better than the SS?

the ride quality is extremely close to stock, but the handling is increased immensley. i have heard the tiens run a little hard, and i didn't buy a TL to have a stiff ride. Plus, a-spec is covered under the factory warranty.

a-spec gives you all the pros of suspension, with none of the negatives. your only complaint may be that it is not low enough.

keep in mind, a low tien setup will require a camber kit, which costs $$$.

I wouldn't say it's better....just different. You will likely get better control with the Teins as hey lower the car (and hence center of gravity) more. I haven't experienced the Teins, but did use Comptech springs in my 2G TL. They lowered the car about 1 1/2 inches and the ride was significantly stiffer, less compliant, but very tolerable. I got used to it. I expect the Teins are similar.

With the A-Spec on my 3G TL, it mostly removes the dive and squat on acceleration and deceleration, and there is less body roll, but not nearly as much as I recall from my 2g TL. It lowers the car 1/2-1 inch (mine was 1/2 inch) and the ride quality was still compliant. It made the steering more precise and with the Comptech RSB, it did ride like it was on rails. The best part is that dealers will install it and warranty it.

So again, what suspension setup you get depends on what you want out of your suspension.

DiZ, a camber kit controls the amount the wheels are tilted in or out relatively to the body of the car.

exactly......and with our TLs you cant adjust camber. So if you lower your car with springs or whatever, your camber will begin to go more negative, meaning that the top of your wheels will lean in more when looking at them from the back.

but in some cases you wont need a camber kit, it all really depends if and how much your camber is really out.
