can a shorter shaft mean that there is potential higher chance that it can bottom out?

NEUSPEED SP3's are KONI shocks with additional perches and a shorter shaft so you can pair it better with lowering springs.

So, is this something that you did? How does it affect ride height? And also is this with stock bumpstops or type-s(<-or is their a difference)? Anyone who has cut the bumpstops could you please tell why......I assume it will affect how you bottom out????

I will share with you what I have heard. The bump stop wont affect height, however giving the shorter shaft of the SP3, by cutting the bump stop you are giving the shaft extra room to travel, preventing bottoming out.

I am not an expert at this , but this is what i was told.

Cutting the bump stop allows the shock rod to have more travel under compression. Cutting 1 bump off allows your car to have an additional inch or so of shock travel when you encounter a huge rough patch in the road. This means your front bumper will be that much closer to the ground as well, but the extra travel is well worth it if your shocks are shorter and can handle it.
A lot of coilovers are dual adjustable and allow you to move the whole shock lower to compensate for the drop. This is why those that want really low drops seek full coilovers, so they can dump it and maintain some suspension travel.

I called Neuspeed about the bumpstops and they told me to call my spring manufacturer (H&R in my case) for recommendations. Just got off the phone with H&R and they told me not to cut my bumpstops if installing H&R sport springs with Koni SP3s. I'm sure it's different with every spring, but if my spring manufacturer tells me not to cut em, I ain't cutting em haha.

So... the Kony Sp3's allow 7mm-14mm of adjustment, whereas the Koni Sport shocks allow 20mm of adjustment? I'm looking to pick this set up to be lowered another inch: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/product.p...at=1390&page=1

From my experience, the SP3's lowest perch is no more than 15mm (~0.50-0.60") lower than the stock perch, so your summary sounds correct.
