Dec Motor Trend Tire Ratings
Motor Trend graded performance tires in this months issue and the following tire came in # 1:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
Supposedly has excellent handling in the rain and good perfomance on dry pavement. Tire Rack reviews seemed to support the Motor Trends tests.

I have these tires on my 2004.5 jetta Gli, They are very good performance tires. They handle the best in wet conditions. Euro tuner magazine also rated these #1. My only complaint is they seem kick up every rock on the road. I have some chipped paint on the body kit from this. This is a big problem with these tires. These tires came OEM on certain VW's. Check out VWvortex on this problem. Here is a pic of my jetta:
