Dealer gave me mismatched tires!?

So today i decided i needed to check the tire pressure on my car and i noticed that my driver front side tire was turanza and the other 3 were bridgestone. What should i do? is this anything to be overly worried about? ?

Go back and tell them to replace it. Different tires front to back is okay, but side to side is not safe at all.

How long ago did you buy the car, though?

Yes...this should not be that way. This should be immediately pointed out first thing in the morning to the dealer for them to rectify!

This is a joke, right? Someone please tell me, I'm starting to wonder if he's serious.

Well, I seriously have just gotten a replacement tire from the dealer cause 1 Bridgestone slit and they gave me a Michelin on my front driver's side with the other 3 being Stock Bridgestone.......Is this a legit concern?

Turanza = Bridgestone. No difference.

It is recommended to have the same brand w/ similar thread wear (at least on the front). I would definitely take it back to the dealer and get it replaced w/ a similarly worn out tire. If your dealer refuses and you do not want to invest in new tires swap the front tires with the rear so the Michelin is on the rear.

Man, I just double checked my tires and - holy shit! I found that the RIGHT REAR was a PZero Nero and the other three were Pirelli tires!!!

I know I'm an ass ...I couldn't resist.

I only have 1600 miles on my new car...so all the tires have new thread...Should I still change it?

ok well now that you guys have hammered me ... i now know that turanza is a type of bridgestone tire , my question now is

I have 3 bridgestone tires (non turanza) and one turanza .. will this be a problem in the future?
I'v had the car for 2 weeks 3 days now, 1100 on the odo.

Thanks

I would absolutely insist that all 4 match, especially on a new car. It's less of a problem if the front 2 match and the back 2 match, but 1 oddball isn't good. I had that problem on a blown tire on my Ford Explorer, and unfortunately they don't make the tires any longer (the ones that had all the issues). It sucked cause I ended up having to buy 4 new tires to replace the 1 that blew out, but what else could I do?

You bring your vehicle straight back to the dealer and insist on 4 matching tires.Hell in some countries that is an illegal safety violation to have mismatched tires on your vehicle i.e. Germany
And since they put you through the burdon of having to discover such a rotten thing on your brand new vehicle and the burdon of having ot now take the time to travel to them and wait,I'd insist on some decent tires. The Bridgestone Turanza's SUCK!!

ok i was wrong myself .... this is my REAL situation

I only have one Turanza on the front driver side and the other 3 are Michelin.

I sent my brother to check the tires before i wrote the first post, and i guess i misinterpreted what he said

IMO your dealer should change it. I wouldnt be too happy if that happened to me. Like I said, in worst case, put the front tires (Michelin) on the rear. You not only take performance and safety hit, but it also puts a strain on your transmission (if there is a mismatch in thread wear).

OK, yeah, I would go straight back to the dealer and get them to match the tires ALL the way around ASAP! That is BS - they should be ashamed and give you no problems ...

Ok i will def take them back this weekend, will call and make an appointment tomm. What do you mean by saying i should insist on some decent tires? Are you saying i should tell them for making me go out of my way to come back to the dealership they should give me something better than both the bridgestone and michealin? or give me the tire i originally was supposed to get .. but with an a hint of anger?

I was actually thinking about telling the dealer that i'd keep that turanza as a spare rather than the donut in the trunk, seems a little more safe to me. (Especially with my late night expeditions w/ my friends) what do you think? will it even fit down there with out noticing it?

Good Idea, but I am sure it would stick up into the trunk and you would have to purchase another wheel. That would make for an expensive spare.
