there is no guarantee the adr sterling will clear, you may need a 5mm spacer at most, which would bring the offset to 19x8.5 +33 which would leave you to run 235/35-19 or 225/35-19 so you wont rub
the falken torque have a spoke pattern that may allow them to clear, worst case also a 5mm spacer which would bring the wheel to a 19x8 +33 which would allow you to run 245/35-19...

ADRS will work, With the Torque 5s on an 8 inch wheel, depending if you want a stretched look or a standard look, you can fit anything from a 215 (stretched) to a 235.

stillhere, what's your recommendation or experience on what i should do?
Should i use my old tires off my current rims and put it on the new ones? the thing, i hear that when they switch it over, they might end up damaging the tire when they are prying the tire off, so might as well just buy a new set with the rims.

Depends on wat machine the shop works with... I've swapped tires to other wheels... Afterall tires generally cost the same as wheels

20x8.5 +40 with 245/35/20 will definitely work... I was running that same set-up about a year ago.... and the year before that I had the same tires size on a set of wheels 20x8.5 +35... with no issues except cutting the Aspec Rear Lip in the wheel well...

GREAT THREAD, a lot of useful info on here!!!
I have a question....For the rear of a TL.
20x10 with a Offset of 43, currently the wheel has a 255/30 on it....
Is a wider tire possible? Lets say a 265?
Car is going to be dropped on Comptechs
Reason Im asking because some are riding on 255's with 8inch wide rims and some even a 265.....On a 10inch wheel think 265 would be nice maybe 275 but I know that would be pushing it!!
Car is a 05 TL AT

You can per say run 245/45/17 all around, or run 225/45/17 up front and 245/45/17 in the rear.

This should help you, I am rolling on 20x10 with a +45 offset rolling on 255/30/20. When I test fitted 275, it did not fit.
I say, go with 255 it will still have an aggressive look, you will have to roll your fenders though.

With this wheel gonna be close as they only have +38 as a viable option. May have to run a 3mm spacer with it.
do you have your mind set on the 245/30/20? If not you could run stretched with a 225/30/20 if you have plans on dumping your tl

It says that it fits 5x114.3, which is our bolt pattern.
And yes, you would only need them in front. But me personally I would put them all around so it pushes out the wheel a lil bit to be level with the fenders. maybe even do a 5mm in the rear)

If you don't have any plans to lower your TL-S then you actually have more options with sizes, wheel widths, wheel offsets, and numerous tire setups.
Go to this thread New Wheel/Tire specs with pics and you will find numerous setups!
A 20x7.5in wheel with a 7.5in wheel width is too skinny! The factory TL stock wheels are 17x8.0 with a 8.0 wheel width. Why go down? Go wider!
The 20x8.5 with the 35mm offset without the 3mm spacer will work!
The wheels will look flush with the fender.
But IMO, any time you get wheels to replace the stock setup a lowered stance will improve overall looks by a whole lot. There are also other benefits to lowering your car.
BTW, my setup is 19x8.5 (front) with a 42mm offset & 19x9.5 (rear) with a 42mm offset as well. Tires are 245/35R19 (front) & meatyyy 275/30R19. Lowered 1.3in (front) and 1.4in (rear) with no rubbing. I have a staggered setup on a FWD car and it's considered aggressive on a TL but I was able to pull it off because I did my research especially on this forum and was able to pull it off with no problems.
Good luck!

tsw mondello will not clear the factory brembo... and 20x10 will create no room back there to put that in the front... 20x8 or 8.5 maybe with a spacer will clear... no way for 20x10 all round

possibly a 10mm but it will require you test fitting and using the washer method (if you don't know what the washer method is pm me)

Good luck!

Wheel Make/Model: SSR MS1
Wheel Size (**X**): 18x8, 18x8.5
Wheel Offset (+**): +37, +42
If lowered (amount): stock
Transmission (Manual or Auto): Manual, Brembos
Year/Trim (04-07, Base or Type S): Base
Will they fit?
Also, on another note, what are the widest tires that would normally fit on 18x7.5?
Thanks anyone!

As far as tire options I'd keep them the same on all 4 corners since its only .5" I'd stick w/ 245/40-18
