Could a cracked rim cause my TL to shake like a stripper?
Not sure if this the proper place for this... Ive been getting a shake in highway speeds upon exceleration kinda becomes dormant while cruising but I can still tell its there.
Well I figured it may be the tires as how they were the tires the car came with and they had hella wear on them and I noticed the passenger side always getting low. So today I got new tires put on the front and had an alignment done. When the tech was putting the new tire onto the rim he called me over and pointed out that my rim had cracked on the inside he put sometype of temporary glue type stuff on and told me thats a big reason you get a shake at highway speeds. My question for you guys is why so much shaking when accelerating and why does it become less noticeable while cruising? I would think that the shake would be just as consistent during cruising because the crack is still in the same place.
Give me wisdom and insight gurus

The cracked rim can contribute to the shaking you feel because of low tire pressure. However, the main culprit is probably your wheels not being balanced. My advice get the rim fixed, balance your wheels, and get hub centric rings if you are on after market rims that have a larger bore than the stock hub. Last, don't forget to get an alignment.
