Converting a chrome finish to matte

ok. so here's my problem. i had to replace one of my wheels because i cracked a rim, so after receiving the rim boxed, i took it to get it mounted and once it was mounted i realized that the new wheel has a chrome finish, which doesn't match the other wheels which have a subtle matte finish so although I really like the chrome finish I'm not replacing the other three wheels so I started thinking about ways that I may be able to tone down the chrome finish, perhaps by taking a fine grit sand paper to it. what are your thoughts or suggestions?

I think your hosed. I would search online or find a local shop in the area that may be able to redo the rim for you. If you try and do it yourself, you will more than likely remove any protective finish that the rim has on it, and then you'll have 1 rim that tarnishes much faster than the other 3.

No way you are going to match the other wheels with sandpaper, return the wheel or get an exhange. Most shops will do so as long as you didn't mount a tire on it.

Either return the chrome wheel or live with it. Sandpaper will not do the job.

well the tire is mounted so theres no returning and i ordered it online so i really don't wanna go through the trouble but i guess i could live with it because its really only the lip and the slim spokes u see in the pic.

perhaps i just wont clean that rim as well when i wash the car

order the right color, but seriously didn't you realize you got the chrome rim when you opened the box, i mean matte black and chrome way too apart.

its not matte black. the silver had a matte finish and the new one has a chrome finish.

i wasnt the one to open the box. the installer opened the box so my first view of it was mounted on the car. entirely my fault anyway.
