Comtech Install questions
hi, i really want to get the comptech swaybar now due to all these threads. i've already asked local shops in daytona and the prices are crazy. the lowest one was like 90 dollars. Anyway, i want to do this myself. Before i start this project, i have a few questions.
1. Do the tires need to be off the ground (no pressure on them)?
2. do i need to use locktite?
3. what do i have to torque the bolts/screws to? (can someone reccomed one as i lost my one when i moved)
4. can i grease the stock bushings or do i need to buy aftermarket ones?

The CT sway bar comes with bushings...it doesn't matter if the wheels have a load on them, you just want them to be at the same height (either both up or down).
The instructions say to remove the exhaust; however, I replaced the bar in 20 mins w/o removing the exhaust. There are a total of four bolts, probably 10 or 14mm, dont remember, and then you;ll need an allen wrench and open ended wrench for the endlinks.

I used lithium grease on the CT bushings. I might actually go back and wrap the bar in teflon tape since I seem to be getting a squeak from back there; however, it may be my TEINs. I'll figure it out once I get my hands dirty.

1. Yes, to make it easier to remove/replace the sway bar, but it's not really necessary. You'll need a load on the wheel however to put the sway bar back on.
2. I used Loctite Blue just to make sure the nuts and bolts won't loosen from vibration.
3. I don't remember, but you can call Comptech to make sure.
4. I used the bushings that came with the Comptech RSB and did not grease them. Why grease them if the original rubber bushings didn't use grease? I've had the RSB on for over 8 months now and it has been squeak and clunk-free. Others have had problems when they did not grease the bushings, however.
