What I'm saying is that in the opinion of whomever designed the car, every part has an important function. If it didn't Acura would just save the money and hassle by not using it.
And you don't know whether the car will work as intended or "be ok" without the plastic cover.
Remember that one time you thought that the flap on the LCA bushing was useless and I showed in 1 sentence that it was there for an engineered purpose?
Or the time you said that side mirrors were an example of a vestigial part?

Are you the flap engineer?
Do you know the flap engineer?
Have you objectively tested the required force of deflection of that bushing with and without the flap? Post those results then you will have "showed" something.

Not supporting anyone in particular but it doesn't look like the rubber on the meveotech's comes up as far as on the OEM bushings, and the underside doesn't seem as beefy as OEM bushings. Maybe that's is why they are deflecting more?

Aaand these are my Moog compliance bushings after like 40-50K miles. The OEM ones were still OK at like 100K+ miles. I shoulda just left them alone.

BROlando, your strut bushing in the lower control arm looks like the one on my Accord V6. I also used aftermarket lower control arms. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced this with the arm still mounted on the car? I don't see this being an issue. Just remove the fork and press it out then press in the new one?

Yeah, you can do it while its still installed in the car.
I ended up buying a genuine Honda bushing.
Remember not to tighten it until you put the car on the ground....or get the LCA jacked up to simulate that.

Yes, I jack up against the lower control arm until the car is slightly lifted off the jack stand then I tighten so the bushing isn't twisted when the car is at its natural resting position.

You can rent a ball joint type press from auto parts stores. Seems that Advance/Carquest has the biggest one. Its called like a 4WD ball joint kit or something.
I bought these two for all kinds of use since I do so much crazy stuff to cars all the time....and I live at a rented condo...so I don't want to buy a press that would make it a hassle to move, if needed.
These take up minimal space and have been great for all kind of bushing and bearing installs. Total cost between $150-200...so like the same as a one time fee at a shop. No regrets.

The one in the black case was bought by my friend at HF and now I have it. If you don't have time or presence of mind to:
-Get your friend to buy a track S2000
-Invite him to prep it at your house
-Non chalantly entice him to buy tools
-Rob him
Then you can just buy it like a square.

Actually.. that's how I get a good amount of my tools.. I fix my family/friends' cars for cheap/free but then have them buy the tools.. And then when they realize, "oh i don't need to keep this, you can have it!" i profit
sooooo in unrelated news, anyone need to replace their LCA's
Thought I'd share.. So after hours of reading the forums, watching unhelpful videos and coming up with the tools and the time to tackle the task, I completed my (05 TL) compliance bushing replacement today. I jacked up the front of the car, put it on stands and removed the wheels. Started on the pass side, soaked the bushing down, removed the two LCA bolts, gave a few small tugs on the hub and did some gentile prying on the mounting points and just pulled the arm down enough to rest on the outside of the front bracket. Set up my press sleeve kit with a 74mm sleeve and a 75mm receiver (Btw this amazon kit worked perfectly https://a.co/d/j3RFzKS) and worked the old bushing out fairly easily with a ratchet and wrench. I cleaned, lightly sanded and put a thin layer of grease inside of the bushing hole. I then tried, (for about the next 4 hours) to press the new (frozen) bushing into the lca. Every single time I thought I had it situated perfectly it would Fing teeter one side or the other and would not for the life of me start in straight! It was like the damn hole was slightly elliptical. I tried heating with a torch, sanding some more, calling it's mother obscenities..nothing worked. After some thinking and icing my lower back it then dawned on me to try and press the old bushing back in from the bottom. It went back in pretty easily so I cranked it back in but stopped when the bushing was about a 16th inch from the rim of the control arm. Then i cut out the rest of the broken rubber from the center of the old bushing and positioned the new bushing on top of it. Using the new bushing to push the old bushing out it went in perfectly! So then I went to the drivers side, broke out the center of the old bushing, pressed it out about 16th, put the new bushing on top and pressed it the rest of the way in, and was done in like 30 minutes lol. It would've been like an 45min - hour job if I would've thought of that in the first place... so yeah, keep wrenchin' on and learn everyday!
