Coilover Question

I picked up a set of the F&F type 1 coilovers and got them installed the other day. I wasn't really looking to lower the car much, but I'm seeing that even at the max height of the coilovers (8 threads on) I am dropped about 1 1/2" inches with some pretty serious negative camber. It's making the ride quality pretty awful.

I see Type S (mine is not a type S) top hats mentioned in some other threads. Is that what I would need to get back close to stock ride height or do I need to ditch the F&F's? Also, does the top hat slide over what is already there, or would I need to compress the springs and switch everything over? Is the type S thicker than the stock top hats, or would switching my stockers over possibly work?

Thanks!

sounds like you need a camber kit

If it was just the camber, I wouldn't have a problem with it. But I am bottoming out on curbs And the ride is rough. If there is no way to raise the ride height, I will probably go back to stock components

Seems kind of odd that the stock ride height isn't in the range of adjustability!

Doesn't sound like you did your research before you installed these. Every coilover setup will still lower your car at least 1" at the max height setting....and every coilover setup will make the ride stiffer than stock. The only way to get around this is to put your stock suspension back on.

Also, you cannot add the oem top hats to the F&F coilovers, they already have top hats. This is an assumption, but I'm guessing the F&F coilvoer springs have a different diameter than the oem springs, which means you would not be able to use the oem top hats on F&F coilovers.

I'm still curious why you installed coilovers if you didn't want to be lower or have a stiffer ride...

FF Type 1's are a pretty bad coilover for ride comfort and don't offer damper adjustment either. I would have done more research if I were you and picked a better coilover that offered damper adjustment and didn't ride as harsh.

Okay thanks, that clears some things up. I was okay with a little drop I just wasn't expecting one and a half inches. Maybe I can learn to live with it, I'll have to drive on it for a while. Still have to do the rears, and get an alignment first, Got an awful Steering wheel vibration at 70 mph
