Chrome air caps stolen.

I've had two air caps stolen off my wheels in the past couple of weeks. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it just bugs me. I guess it could be worse I could be without wheels.

Check your neighborhood kids bikes out...... That's where mine always ended up.... Most of the time I just "took" them back......

I saw a neighbor freak out at another one for taking the chrome caps off his kid's bike. The police were called in and everything.. Buy some new ones and make sure they are on pretty tight or get the plastic cheap ones nobody wants...

I had all 4 stolen from my 18" OEM, I was so angry. he person could have done what I did and go to PepBouys, $2.49 and you get four metal chrome caps that match the originals perfectly.

I'd like to put those caps on that tell you how much air pressure is in your tires but I won't for the very reason that they would be a magnet for thieves.

I got those nice chrome ones with the Acura logo... unless you have the socket key, it's not going anywhere... takes care of most of those folks who would try to take them off the car.

I feel your pain, I replaced the stock black caps with SS caps and have had multiple sets stolen. Ended up putting the stock black caps back on, and now they are getting ripped off to.

OK here is a resolution... When you park your car go and take all the caps off and then when you go back to drive your car put them back on..

Or MOVE from the area... !!

yep - this has happened to me several times on both of my cars. I even had someone steal the body side moulding on my M3 once (probably to modify their own 300 series or something). That stuff ain't cheap to replace either.

It is definitely annoying, but much better than the malicious "key scratching" craze of the recent past.

My solution? I bought about 5 sets of "chrome" caps ($10-$12)...to avoid having to go back to the store each time they are stolen.

Yep, when I was a young pup we used to steal them for our BMX bikes. Damn, I was such a punk ass back in the day!

Yeah I went and bought some replacements. I don't think it's any of the neighborhood kids. I just washed my car a couple of days ago and they were still on. I know the first time that it happened is when I was helping my wife out at a school dance. I think this time was when I went to the movies this weekend, because I noticed it missing the next day. I parked out a ways so my car wouldn't get dinged. Maybe next time I'll park a little closer where their are more people around.

The ones that signify Tire pressure? Do they use a wireless signal or are they just those ones what are plastic and have a red tab that comes up when the pressure is low?

Definitely a sign of the times........ Or mentality of the neihbors...
--When I went to "take" mine back I let their parents know what was up... Some of the kids knew me and it was kind of a prank, the others ended up getting disciplined accordingly by their "old man" for being petty thieves... The way it should be...
Of course back then you really didn't have to worry about "rebellion", IE coming back and trashing your whole car..... Like you said, today I would just suck it up and get new ones... It wouldn't be worth getting "shot" over etc..

Society is going to the dogs.....
