Chicagoans or any cold-weather regions: Too soon to mount summer tires?

Chicagoans or any cold-weather regions: Too soon to mount summer tires?

Alright guys, I've managed to install the A-Spec kit all by myself, and my A-spec wheels + tires should be here next week. The question is, how long should I wait before I switch to my summer setup? It's going to be very hard for me to have those beautiful wheels/tires sitting in my garage so the sooner I can mount them the better!

The second part of my question is if I should go with the 235 or the 245 tire width? I already know I'm getting the Nitto NT NeoGen ZR (pictured above) which will be used exclusively for summers but the damn potholes are making me wonder if I should go with the 245's to give my rims a little bit more cushion. If I go with the 245's, will this affect the "sporty" look of the tire? Maybe someone who has these tires can chime in on this. I've heard some people rub with the 245's but I don't plan on dropping my car any time soon, but if I do I'll prob go with the A-spec suspension.

thanks guys and may I say.. this site is making me go broke!!

Youre in chicago
you should know that it can be 70 degrees one day, and snow like a monster the next....Just take this week for example....Cold as hell monday, warm as mittens today.

Install after April is what i would say. (may not snow in april, but it may get cold enuff for ice and stuff)

Thanks, guys. It's gonna be really hard having the new wheels and not putting them on. I think I'm just going to store them at my parents garage so that I'm not tempted.
Having warm days like today is not helping

I think I'm going to get the A-spec suspension in the Summer. Should I still get the 245's? I'm still really unsure about this one and I have to decide soon because I'm ordering the tires today or tomorrow.

thanks.

I will be leaving my winter/snow tires on my car until April, we have gotten heavy snow multiple times in March over the years.

Wait until the temperature is consistently above freezing...that could be into mid to late April. You don't want to be driving on frozen Summer tires.

As with everyone else...April would be a good month to put those babies on. I'm anxious here in Madison, WI myself! I don't blame you one bit for wanting to put those on!
