Cheap way to lower?

Ok guys, first post I know.. I'm a noobie. I'm looking to drop my 05 TL about 1-2", without buying lowering springs.. lol is this even possible? If not then what is a a reccomended setup for no more than a 2" drop? I tried searching before posting this thread.. and no luck. Maybe I'm just an idiot trying to use a search engine.

You can lower any vehicle using heat or a cut off wheel but either option isnt very safe and not recommended. Springs really aren't that expensive. Its the labor involved if you dont do your own work.

that's why I used red text, sarcasm. Springs are pretty cheap 200-300$, even less if used. OP just didn't do any searching on the forum or even just trying to google anything it seems.

I would suggest to just buy the lowering springs. I had an 01 20th Anniversary Maxima with some aftermarket wheels/tires. My Max "ate" up tires because the coils front/rear were heated. Every place I went to could not align my front end within specs, even after installing camber/caster plates. So about every 2 oil changes I rotated tires. I spent $150 and got a 1.5" coil set from Eibach. Definitely worth the money.

prior to posting i did my research and found eibach kits etc for around $200, which is cheap and i do my own work. i was just curious to see if there are any other ideas/ways out there opposed to buying the $200 kit. i definitely want to stay away from the rice scene and maintain factory ride as much as possible. sorry guys, im new to the car world. ive always owned something 4 wheel drive and lifted

If welding on a shock weren't completely dangerous it would be as easy as removing the stock spring perches (they do come off with a hammer), cutting away the stop and welding them in a lower position. Lowering the spring perch by 1" will give you about 1.2" at the tire.

Taking out the rubber isolators will give 3/8" to 1/2". I messed with different thicknesses trying to get the perfect height. However, I'm sure there would be lots of noise like that.

I'll warn you that the rear suspension does not have a lot of travel and I ran into some pretty severe snap oversteer when running a sticky tire and hitting the bumpstops from the bodyroll. If you go lower you need to go stiffer to stay off the bumpstops or the handling gets "interesting" especially at higher speeds.

It's too bad they don't make lowering spindles like we have for the domestics to retain 100% factory suspension.

He could be talking about coilover sleeves...similiar to Ground-Control...but they do not manufacture a specific set for the tl's...

I hope he's not running ebay coilovers...

Springs are the cheapest and will lower your car 1.5 max. I am rolling on comptechs with tokico shocks that i bought from a member here and i absolutely love em.

You are all wrong, the CHEAPEST way to lower is to put sand bags in the trunk! Fully adjustable too!

A guy I knew in H.S. had a bug and filled the front of it (or trunk) with rocks to lower it. Absolutely ridiculous!

OP, spend the money, you're in a TL not a Civic.

hmmm...

thinking of upgrading to some aspecs suspension. i welcome the shock replacement/upgrade. however, this being my wife's acura, she prefers having a normal ride height despite the aspec's combo complimenting each other.

i, can see a possible solution. maybe i can sell off the springs... and use stock springs. though i know i hav e to do more labor...

i would not know how much the aspec's combo will lower the car, maybe yuou do? either way, let me know if this is feasible to you.
