Changing 1 tire on my 2005 TL
Hi Folks,
First of all, want to preface my post with the admission that I know pretty much nothing about tires at all. So any advice will be helpful!
I recently destroyed a tire on my 2005 TL (automatic) and need to replace it. The other 3 tires are in good condition - the car has less than 16,000 miles on it. Now I know that the OEM tires on the car were Michelin Pilot HX MXM4. But these are pricey as hell. If I replace the damaged tire with an alternate tire such as BFGoodrich® g-Force T/A KDWS 235/45R17, would it cause any issues. Would the car handle worse or the VSA not work properly due to mismatched tires?

I don't think it would make a huge difference, probably non at all during daily driving. I would try to keep the 2 front tires the same though, meaning if your front tire messed up, replace it, and rotate it to the rear so that your 2 front wheels will have the same tires. VSA only activates when either of your front tires loses traction.
