bridgestone potenza re-11 review

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=Potenza+RE-11

Previously i had the shitty stock MXM4's on the car, and they were beat to hell, so time for a replacement. I wanted something aggressive since my car never sees the snow and barely any of the winter(ice). I read alot of reviews about it and compared it to similar "Extreme Performance Summer" tires on tirerack and elsewhere, and these flew to the top of the list so i decided to get them. i paid $1200 for complete install plus an alignment so i am happy with the price.

Right when I saw the tires i loved them, they look very aggressive and it is a good looking tire. After i picked the car up, definitely felt a difference but i didnt really push it till about 100 miles on them. Once i felt like they were good and worn in, i put them to the limit, flying around exit ramps without hearing the tires screech, and feeling 100% planted to the ground, and the steering is very responsive. Also no more tire spin going WOT around corners, these tires grip ALL the time.

id recommend these tires to anyone and everyone as a summer tire who really do want the best.

fyi - i went with the stock tire specs. 235/45/17 i think

They are great tires, but would have gone with the 245/45-17 to stay with the OE Michelin diameter. They are soft and will afford a great deal of grip, but at $1200 for the set, they will be short lived (treadlife) and also can't be used in cold weather.
Good luck.

They just simply look sticky. Looking good. I wish i didn't drive 18-20k miles per year and have poor weather in Pacific NW.

Umm no. He used exactly the correct size. 245/45/17 would have been way to tall and not been the correct size.

Umm no! You, as well as most others, don't realize that the OE Michelin's are taller than most 235/45-17 tires. Check the OE size 235/45-17 Michelin HX MXM4 and what do you find? A tire that is 25.6" in diameter. The Bridgestone RE11 in 235, as most 235's, is only 25.4" in diameter or -.2" from OE, while the 245/45-17 is almost identical with the OE Michelin at 25.7" +.1" and when that silly .1" diameter, or .05" (3/64") tread is worn away, it will be the same size as the OE tire.

Better check the stats!
