brake pad suggestions.

Dealer I bought my 08 TL Type-S installed some crap ass pads... dust galore!!! Any suggestions for replacements? I been a fan of Ake-Bono most my life, low dust and seem to last pretty well. Also did the TL Type-S come stock with cross drilled rotors? Thanks!

I used Akebono Ceramic pads and Stoptech rotors on my last brake pad replacement, 6 months ago and my wheels always look clean and they grip great during hard braking! I would recommend them highly. Factory rotors did not come cross-drilled but if you're looking for some be aware they may have a greater tendency to warp compared to blank rotors.

A lot of very good pads produce dust as a byproduct of actually stopping.

If you're looking for low dust...Akebono Ceramics aren't bad. I'd buy new rotors unless the ones you have are almost new as well.

You sure those crap pads aren't the OEM Brembo pads? They dust like a mofo, but work great.

Yeah, had Akebono on my last car, no dust ever, and the previous owner must have put on drilled rotors. No issues with warping vibrations. Im going with the Ake's.

EBC Redstuff FTW, the perfect balance between low dust, and grab. Many of these ceramic pads don't use the rotor well enough, so they end up depositing material onto the rotor, making it feel warped when it's not.

Though I've never used Redstuff, I definitely agree with the reasoning and dislike for ceramic pads.

My preference is to just get dusty pads that work. Dust is about the last thing I consider....as long as the dust is harmless. Brake feel is high on my list of factors which create driving enjoyment.

I believe that Akebono pads are what my TLX comes with from the factory. Akebono makes two types of pads for my TLX, Street and Fleet. Their fleet pads are used on police cars and taxi and are suggested for a more aggressive stopping. Pricing for the fleet pads are only about $5 of $10 more per set. You should be able to find the pads for around $50 per set.

1 vote for Wagner MX1049 pads. Semi-metallic, more than adequate stopping power, and extremely low dust at a very reasonable price from rockauto.

Reviving an old thread. Looking to replace the front brake pads on my 07 Type S some time this year. The rotors were replaced last year with OEM. The front pads are OEM as well, if I'm not mistaken. They were done by my mechanic about 4 years ago. This time I want to replace the pads myself. Any suggestions? Prefer low dust and long lasting, of course. My TL is a daily driver in stop and go traffic mixed with freeway driving. Braking is anywhere from light to moderate, to occasional hard braking. Thinking Akebono, PowerStop, EBC, Centric as brands to consider. I see Rockauto has a lot of brake pad options from Dynamic Friction for the TL. Why is it that I've somehow never heard of them?

Which version / part number Centric posi quiet pads did you get?

What's everyone using more of nowadays, ceramic or semi-metallic?
