Brake bleeder valve / Check valve

Has anyone used bleeder valves ? Or check valves? They are used as a 1 person brake bleeding system.

Here is one I saw online. not sure if it really works though.

Many use the speed bleeders, but I never have. I've used the hose in brake fluid as this is a one man operation and also the unit utilizing an air compressor.

I bought this and have been so happy. I once bought the type that forces fluid in through the master cylinder and that didn't work and just made a mess. Fiancee got this for me and I'll never look back.

Bleed my brakes, clutch line and all in about 20 minutes with no mess. Just have to refill the master.

You can also use it to suck out the power steering fluid for a reservoir flush...and it'll do oil/tranny fluid from above if you're in a pinch.

this is the adapter for doing the brakes, adds the airtight nipple adapter and a shut off valve

I read that link, and they say it's a "myth" that air will seep back into the line since there is a check valve in the master cylinder. I didn't know there was a check valve in the master cylinder, but if there is one, wouldn't it only protect the master cylinder? I would think that air could still get in the line as some could drool out the end. And if any drooled out, then air must go in.

But if it works like they say, then great, I wouldn't have to buy a bunch of tools to have them just sit around for the next 5 years until I do it again. haha But I am sort of skeptical.

The one I posted, you'll use more often than that. If you're handy and do your own maintenance, of course. Otherwise, don't bother.

Thanks for posting, It looks like it would be effective, but for evacuation, I just normally use the top of a 409 spray bottle, like for my power steering. I never tried empting out a transmission other than through the drain hole. Transmissions hold fluid in other places besides what you can get with the drain hole, so I wouldn't use it for that either.

oh well, maybe I am just being cheap.. =)
