Talking BIG wheels on Type S

I will be getting a 2002 TL Type S in the next two weeks and I was wondering if this would fit.

18x8.5 or 18x9 on 235 40 18

Anyone with experience?

No. No one with experience, since nobody owns that car yet. Wait a few months till it comes out.

PS, Welcome!

It really depends on the offset. But with 8.5 or 9.0 inches in width, it will definitely rub.

02TL-s,
I live in Burnaby, so I'm like 10-15 mins away from you. Would love to take the TL-S mags and wheels off of you. I'll pay you good money as well. If you like I also know a performance shop owner where I can get you any brand that he carries of 18's for a great price. Please contact me at ugen78@hotmail.com or ICQ at 371922.

Thanks

Two weeks?? Thats it. When I put my deposit down back in January they said I would be the the first one getting it from their dealership. At that time they said build date was in March and that delivery was mid March to Mid April. Im hoping its the former rather than the later. I also hear though that the Aegean Blue is going to be delivered later than the Black and Silver Type-S. Oh the Agony

Just in case you guys didnt notice, but the TL Type-S for some reason comes with 17x6.5 inch rims while the Cl Type-S comes with 17x7's. I guess they want the coupe to be a little more sporty than the sedan, but I still think it should have come with the 17x7's. Hopefully there are no clearance issues that they were worried about.

yeah, that's too wide for sure... the AMG S-Class has the 9 inch, think about it.

Cool

Well I talked to Volco tire yesterday and they say 18 x 7.5 is probably the max width with 225/40/18's with an offset of at least 42.

Because the car comes lowered already with the new shocks and springs that they won't know for sure until I bring the car in to test sizes.

I live in the Vancouver lower mainland in response. Also I would be open to offers on a trade for the TL 16" wheels as my winter tire.

The first production date of the TL-s is Febuary 19th with a confirmed arrival date of March 16th but the dealer thinks it will get here early because the last two shipments were early by two weeks.

i own a 2000 tl, and yes i know that 18X7.5 is the widest you can go without rubbing , i have 18X7.5 with a 42 offset and 235/40zr18 and it rubs when i put people in the back, slightly!!

i might have to go down to a 225/40zr18 tire
