sorry for hijacking the thread but I was wondering what would be the optimal size for my stock 05 TL wheels? I was thinking 245/45/17 but how does it compare to the shorter 245/40/17? Thanks.

I had 245/40/17 on my '05. Looked hot, but made for snowplows in wintertime.
Some have tried the 255's, but are not recommended with the stock wheels due to width limitations. Been alot of discussion on topic.

nEEDING TIRE INFORMATION ALSO
I need to jump in here on this tread
Has anyone ,car owner, actually compared the Sumitomo HTR + vs the Yokohama's
...I will using the 18"RonJon wheels and tire size 235/40/18
and have been looking @ the Sumitomo HTR+ , Yokohama Avid W4s / Advan S4
The cost are $437.00 /$552.00 / $854.00 from tire rack
I average 30K per year 50/50 hiway to city and I acelerate quickly and normally run 5-10 over ,except hiway anything less than 85 is boring
I am having a difficult time justifying the cost difference for the AdvanS4 @ twice the money and is the Avid W4s better than the HTR+ ........yes I saw the reviews and the test results all were fairly close . would like to get some opinions from those who may have actually driven on these tires .
All season is a must ; snows in KC and I don't want to go thru the hassle of changing every season ...been there before .....
Thanks
