Best Tires for an 06 TL stock rims

I know there is a thread with lots of recommendations on tires and reviews from members...but I'll be damned if I can't find it. Can someone point me to that thread? Or recommend a good tire replacement for the stock tires on my TL? Thanks!

I'd recommend Summer tires to you, but seeing that you're located in Wisconsin, I think you're going to have to run All-Season tires. How about Bridgestone Potenza RE960 AS Pole Position Tires?

Here's a link: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/bridgestone-potenza-re960-pole-position-tires-613931/

Thanks for the response and the link! I suppose I should have clarified. I am only looking for all-season tires. Really just looking for something a bit better than the stock tires. Something maybe more quiet...better handling...etc...

yeah, i hear the RE960s are good tires. i have Pirelli Pzero Nero A/S on mine and i like. i am on my second set due to the descent mileage on got off my first set...about 40k-ish. not bad in light snow, but heavy snow is never good and they do slip a bit in the rain. but they are quiet so overall i have been happy.

I am also in the same boat... been reading a lot of threads and the consensus seems to be that Yokohama W4S may be the best all around tire for the TL...

Check the comparison at tirerack.com

Also, the stock tire size is 235/45R17, was thinking of going up 10mm to 245/45R17... anyone provide the pros and cons?? Some threads were talking about going 255/40R17, but wouldn't going with a smaller diameter affect driving and mpg? I think going wider would not have any effect as long as I kept the sidewall aspect ratio the same as stock, am i wrong?

Sorry, the comparison is here!

I saw that comparison and was reading about the Bridgestone G019 Grids. They seem to be rated pretty good.

Any other suggestions for tires? Anyone have any experience with other tires they want to share?

A 245/45 is taller and wider than a 235/45.

The "45" is the aspect ratio. It means the sidewall is 45% as tall as the tire is wide. So by increasing the width 10mm, the height is also going to change. That's why we step down to a 40 when going to a 255. A 255/45 would look like a 4x4 tire. A 255/40 is very close to stock diameter.

MPG won't change any measurable amount either way. The important thing is that all 4 tires are the same diameter so you don't confuse the ABS/Traction control/stability control.

If you deal with snow I would keep the stock size. If not, either one of the popular size upgrades would work.
