Best tire size for 18 x 8.5 with +35 offset rims on an 04' TL Base?
Purchasing Varrstoen ES111 in 18 x 8.5 for my TL in the near future. What tire size would keep the speedometer from being off? And also keep the tires from rubbing anything?

What's the offset of the wheels? That makes a difference. And do you plan to slam the car? Do you like the beefy tire look?
My 255's would be square on 8.5, have less than 9,000 miles on them, and are for sale.

Tire sizes aren't standardized, so not all 235/40's will be 25.5" OD, nor do they need to be. 25.3-25.7" will give you no error worse than factory. My tires are 26" even, and cause at worst a 2 mph difference at 75 mph.

Yeah, it's lowered, just recently. Here's a shot with the wheels/tires just bolted on with no drop.

My goal was to make the car appear more beefy, so I got the 255. I chose the 40 sidewall because I wanted the car to appear slightly lowered, even though it wasn't, and to give me a bit softer ride, which it did.

You can kinda' see on my tires where they are "soft" or "round" on the top and bottom edges. This is because I have a 9.5" wide wheel, which really needs a 265 tire. My same 255 on an 8.5 or 9" wheel would fit better, and be more square. With the +35 you'll be running, you could use the following sizes...
235/40 (generally 25.5" OD)
245/40 (generally 25.7" OD)
255/40 (generally 26" OD)
It really depends on the look you want.

I'm not arguing with you either, I'm just saying that I've seen the variance between the same size tires produced by different manufacturers be larger than the variance between different sizes. So, getting caught up in installing an tire that's exactly 25.5" tall is really useless. Truth be told, his speedo is probably off as it is .

I have a 3rd gen tl on lowering springs trying to find wheels I saw comis racing Mrii +15 will they fit if I went for a 255/35/18? I wouldn’t mind rolling fenders but it’s the case of excessive poke if it’s like a few millimeters that’s fine but not 1inch poke
