I'm assuming 18's are fine but what about 19's or 20's...I'm dumb when it come to this type of stuff, but I understand that the bigger the rim, the less tire and rougher the ride. Also, whats the best size to fill up the fender and not scrape?

It all depends on whether you're lowered or not.
I'm lowered on springs and just got a set of 18's. I could've gotten 19's but with 19's you have to worry about bending rims, blown tires, more tire wear since you need low profile rubber, etc...
I'd say 19's for looks, 18's for functionality.
As for 20's, it's an even bigger headache and I don't even think they'd look good on a TL.

when looking for your ideal setup... take 2 things into concideration, first is your driving style, second is your budget
A. driving style: if you plan to take corners and join in on some local scca events, you'd want to stay in a size that allows for you to run the widest tire, ie. 17x9 or 18x9... similarly if your state has crappy roads, you really don't want to go higher than 18"... or if you really enjoy driving and like taking turns and coming up to the highway hot on an onramp... 17 or 18" again... looks isn't a priority... Now if you cruise and have your music bumping, 19" and 20" are fine for you....
B. wheels on a budget: if you have $2k budget, 17" and some 18" with tires are all you can do... for some decent wheels (non-ebay stuff if you know what I mean)... but if you are a baller'd up you can get some high quality 18" - 20"....

Look this over and see what style/look fits "you" and of course take the above advice into consideration.

I'm currently scouting for the best deal on some Privat 19's right now... b/c they fit my "style".

I would go in with 18's or 19's depending on how you drive....as it was brought up by someone earlier.....some 20's look good on the TL....others make it look like a monster truck....
I have 18's and I drive spirited....I luv the way the car corners and feels inside....so with 18's I got the looks, didnt sacrifice much on the comfort, and got better control than 17's....am lowered on teins and I luv the way she drives....sometimes I wish I would have got 19's but well comfort n maintaining would have taken a bump....
