Bent rims :(

So I noticed some odd wear on my drivers side front tire lately so I figured I'd best get to Discount Tire to have it looked at. I was overdue for a rotation anyway and hoped that's all it was. Well, of course it wasn't. They put the wheel on the balancer and the sucker was clearly bent when they began spinning it. I suspected I might have goofed it up a few months ago when I hit a rock in the middle of the road on my way home from work but figured I lucked out since I didn't feel any wobbling and my DWS's didn't show any signs of damage. I hit that rock at about 65mph and ran it over with both the tires on the drivers side. The front wheel was bent pretty severely and the rear only slightly but enough to notice very clearly when on the balancer.

The good news is that this gives me a perfect excuse to ditch the stock and get some new wheels

My TL is ASM. I'm wanting to go with lighter wheels to shed some dynamic mass. I've only been looking at 21lbs. or less since the stock are 24.5lbs. to begin with. I've been considering the following:

Drag DR-31 (Bronze or Gunmetal). I just so happened to find a photo of both side by side: http://zilvia.net/f/wheel-tire/42722...-gunmetal.html

Voxx MG3's: http://www.voxxwheel.com/eng/wheels/tuner-style/mg-3/

Any opinions or thoughts on these or any that you might recommend? Price is an issue but not a deal killer. I'd rather not break $1000 for four. Any input would be appreciated

Without tires. The one's I have are still fine, only 20K old. I'll probably have that one replaced the end of summer since Discount is offering me a credit for premature wear on it (even though it's likely my own fault )

These fuckin OEM wheels bend if you just sneeze on them!
I've replaced at least one every year since I have the car.

I've had good luck buying from this seller:

Yeah, he told me that one of the others was a little bent as well (which never hit the rock). Wierd. Anyway, I appreciate the lead but I think I'm going to pull the trigger on lighter weight wheels. I'm in "TL Diet" mode right now

I bent a stock rim last october running over something on the interstate. I bought one off of ebay that was just like the link above (remanufactured) but from "pro-wheels" and the pain is already chipping off.

Yea they often do that... Have u tried to sell them ur factory wheels? I know they also offer credit for them as long as they are stock. but not sure if it's not a full set.

^ I'll have to try that since I won't be needing them once I upgrade. I thought about keeping the stockies for winter tires or spares or whatever. But it's likely I'd never use them and they'd just sit in my garage and take up space

They're going to give me partial credit on new tires, for the two that are worn unevenly even though it's due to bent rims. I'll have to ask them about the wheels as well.

And I've heard that 17's looks small on the TL if they're not the factory wheels but my tires are 17's and I prefer the price and ride of a 17. Anyone have experience going with a 17 aftermarket and regretting not getting an 18?

whats the size of these rocks you guys drive over? I've fallen into craters with my oem wheels in NYC and they took the hit like it was a small bump in the road.

Personally I wouldn't do 17s... Did u go on the discount tire website? If u look at the full site you can click the rim & see how it looks on the car first. They don't offer the option on all but if u go in to the store they can pull it up on their computer.

I never had a problem buying from the seller I referenced nor any other re-manufacturer I've dealt with over the years.

I've had a few people recommend I go to 18's. Is there a benefit other than look? Some say it would look to small with 17's (if they're not factory) but they would also be lighter and supposedly better ride comfort. Thoughts?
