Bent Rim *flips the bird to PennDot*

Well Pennsylvania has some of the shittiest roads in the world. I think the ice roads in fuggin' Antarctica are nicer...Anyways...at the dealership for a few things and they came and told me my front, passenger side rim is bent (bent diameter wise). I know it's from a pot hole as I try to avoid them day in, day out...

Has anybody had any luck getting the state to cut you a check for a new rim(s)?

Not sure if it's even worth pursuing...It's about $330/rim here at the dealer, but if I don't want to go the state repayment route, or dealer route, I was thinking of picking up one from the classifieds.

you're gonna be fighting an uphill battle trying to get the state to pay for your bent wheel.

usually, people only have recourse if there was construction going on/no signs/multiple incidents occuring with a lot of people, etc.

i'd just check craigslist or the BM and pick up some new wheel(s) and call it a day. don't give yourself a headache over it.

sorry man, pot holes are the worst...bets of luck to you.

You could probably get the rim fixed for a fraction of the price of a new rim

Even if it's bent the way I described? I.E. the rim is not a perfect circle now that it is bent. Definitely from a pot hole...

+1 to getting the rim trued at a shop. They can tell you by looking at them before the do the work. A local shop here called Transwheel that is fixing one of my Type S rims for $100. Way cheaper than a new rim any they warranty their work.

SNWA would not pay a cent when one of their man-hole covers punched a hole through two rims on my brothers Protege. He was very sad and the rims had already been discontinued making replacements difficult to find.

In California if you report the pothole to Caltrans and they don't fix it, then yes, the state will pay for your bent rim. Good luck though, it's a pain in the ass either way.

PennDot is like talking to a fuggin' brick wall. They sit there and do nothing, and no matter what you say they still don't do shit.

this statement is 100% absolute truth. I live on a hill towards the bottom of it. one day PennDOT had the great idea to cut a ditch between my yard and the road. now, all the random debris that gets washed down the hill when it rains is accumulating in my lower lot. called them 4+ times. they said they'd send a crew out in October to fix it. it's now November 9th, and yup still got shiploads of crap in my yard.

PennDOT can eat a dick as far im concerned. WORST department of transportation EVER!

You ain't lying. There are so many pot holes. What really piss me off is what looks to be like a repaved small section on a road. I'm guessing after digging for whatever reason. Why couldn't they repave it so it was smooth and flush with the rest of the road? It is either a dip or mini speed bumps. Was that intentional so you'll slow down?

I had no idea pot holes could bend rims. Does driving over sunken in sewer tops also cause damage? I found a new route with less lights/stop signs to get home and noticed a lot more of these stupid sewer tops are under the tires path. Should I go back to my slower route?

Lol, god I love when people bitch as much about PennDot as I do...

It's almost laughable how shitty they are. I mean you really have to try to be as bad as they are.
